Pep, knock it off already. This is not an English class and you are not a teacher (nor does it matter if that really is your profession or not).
You are not the spelling and grammar police and quite frankly the continual shots at those who have made such errors not only angers those who actually understand that communication is a 50/50 endeavor but it also shows that you lack even a basic understanding of what a human being truly is: Imperfect.
I've refrained from making this sort of response to you for long enough ... no response is required, in fact if it were up to me, you'd have your posting privileges revoked until such a time as you could treat everyone in a civil manner.
Good evening.

Missing the point yet again? I'll repeat it.
"I am not surprised that the OP had a problem since he was obviously unable to communicate effectively with the person with whom he had the problem."
Pep (who will continue to counter-criticise those whose grasp of English is inadequate to comprehend my argument and who wish to focus on irrelevancies)

From: Ishina Xue I'm starting to think you just like the neat clicky sound your keyboard makes. *I'm* starting to think that they've opened up the forums to the Teen Grid. Pep (or maybe it's the SL equivalent of "Sunday Driver" syndrome)

Pep's point is that there could be a significant misunderstanding because of the language barrier, and the OP isn't even considering it, while at the same time clearly showing us that English is not his or her first language.
Regardless of what you think of Pep, he has a point.

From: Pserendipity Daniels "Whos"? "Shoot their goo"? "Peoples"? ROFLMAO! You obviously fall into that category of self-deluding ESLer inadequate communicators, since you signally fail to understand the underlying argument and think you are expressing yourself effectively. Pep (How young did you claim not to be?) Yawn! You really are a social bore! In many threads started by people whose 1st language is obviously not English...you seem to take delight in tearing it apart and thus derailing the whole topic! You come across as a linguistic snob! PS - you don't seem to have a high regard for your own family by pesistently using them as analogies.

I've seen complaints on other forums regarding this same company and participants...so no real surprise reading it again!

From: Cristalle Karami Pep's point is that there could be a significant misunderstanding because of the language barrier, and the OP isn't even considering it, while at the same time clearly showing us that English is not his or her first language.
Regardless of what you think of Pep, he has a point. LOL... come on. His 'point' was just to stir sh@t, and you know it as well as I do. He's just a plain old, run-of-the-mill grammar NAZI - the most generic and common breed of internet @sshole. He's nothing new. All forums have at least one of them. From: Urban Dictionary Grammar Nazi: A captious individual who cannot resist the urge to correct a spelling and/or grammar mistake even in informal settings. After pointing out the linguistic shortcomings in others, a Grammar Nazi feels a strange sense of twisted and unconstructive intelligentsia delight.
In reality, they are making someone else feel bad for no reason and unintentionally implying that their "superior" grammar skills are all they have to show for a wasted liberal arts education.
While proper grammar usage is all well and good, a Grammar Nazi cavils even insignificant errors in English to somehow win an argument. Of course, rather than being genuinely persuasive in an argument, pointing out English errors is a weak attack only on the typist's credibility and never has any bearing on the underlying premises and assertions therein.
In other words, this is simply a disguised ad hominem argument which intelligent and logical people disregard. ... yeah, that pretty much sums him up. Dont you think?

OP, I know exactly how you feel. My husband and I went through something similar. As tempting as it was for us to name names we didn't. You just can't do that here. I hear you and it is human nature to forewarn others. But if you get a deal that is too good to be true, guess what it is too good to be true.
Rene, as I concurred with you in another posting, there appears to be a propensity to jump all over someone if they do not speak the "perfect" english. RA doesn't just belong to those who have an excellent command of the english language but to anyone who has a question or comment.
Last I checked admittance to posting does not require one to have a doctrine in the english language. So unless you can show me the TOS that requires this, give folks a break.

Pep IS a grammar nazi, but in this particular instance, I wouldn't be surprised if there was something that the OP failed to understand.

From: sable Valentine Rene, as I concurred with you in another posting, there appears to be a propensity to jump all over someone if they do not speak the "perfect" english. RA doesn't just belong to those who have an excellent command of the english language but to anyone who has a question or comment. Since you are referring to another thread, so will I: From: Pserendipity Daniels I'll say it yet again. If someone, however intelligent, who has English as a second language doesn't make that fact clear (and I have a feeling that a lot of the time it is because they believe their English is good enough to pass as native - LMAO!) then how can you tell them from dumb people for whom English *is* their first language, but who can't present their questions and thoughts in a coherent fashion? It's a shame not to be able to distinguish the two types. As someone has noted, about 50% of SL participants have English as a first language, and there are several subforums here that cater for many of those that wish to post in non-English. If ESLers are nevertheless going to post in English and want to be taken seriously then my suggestion is that they make sure they explain (perhaps in their forum profile, so that it is clear to see on each post) why their posts might be less than coherent, eg, "Turkish is my first language", "I am dyslexic", or even "I am too lazy to spell check my posts". Others might then make a more accurate assessment of their posts, rather than potentially dismissing them as unworthy of response or making inaccurate assumptions about the poster's experience or understanding. Pep (not xenophobic, but not psychic either) From: sable Valentine Last I checked admittance to posting does not require one to have a doctrine in the english language. So unless you can show me the TOS that requires this, give folks a break. A "doctrine"? You are proving my point for me. Pep (Gives a break to those folk who deserve it)

From: fr0zen Squeegee We need an SL Better Business Bureau, not policing/policies.
No. It has been tried. Corruption killed it. Peoples personal vendetta's came out and the want to kill certain businesses by threat of blackmail became the operating model. Against me at least. If any sort of Better Business Bureau is run by residents I will work hard to make sure it fails because all it will become is a haven for false and biased reports that do more to hurt innocent businesses than actually harm the cheaters/copy botters/poor customer service businesses. The best thing we have is 3rd party forums and blogs for shaming and naming names. I am not for some user run reporting agency that then slanders said businesses based on bogus or unproven information.
