personally I would like to see it closed.
Reason:
About once a week I get a msg from a random person, grumbling at me for starting that thread, saying I was stupid to do so and that I knew what it would become and that I did it just for the attention.
All of which is a load of garbage. Sure I wanted people to pay attention to me back then, I wanted to be part of the "in crowd" and have folks joke around with me like they did each other, but that thread was not intended for that... 1. That's the price of fame, O Mother of The Thread. 2. You're right, your detractors are throwing garbage. You're not responsible, the thing developed a life of its own. 3. You're wong, you don't "not fit in". You're part of the Forum Family. An eccentric part, but then, a lot of us are. 4. Good lord, Jig...not another "clique" thread!

This will all take care of itself when the forum is shut down and transitions to a Yahoo Answers style knowledge base.
Personally I find *whispers*that thread** to be a microcosm of the General Answers subforum. For quality topics, and meaningful answers, the topical fora are much more useful.
But General Answers all too often devolves into derailed threads, oft-regurgitated high drama topics, pointless bickering, and produces a seemingly endless parade of alts whose sole purpose is to fan the flames of discord.
At least *whispers*that thread** stays mostly civil, provides a nice spot for 'water cooler' talk, and has a helpful tidbit now and again...all condensed into a single thread.

My reality depends upon people "liking" or "applauding" what I do, so I suppose I do care in a way that has becomee second nature to me. Personally, if your four year old had my mental acuity, wit and level of abstract thought then you are a very lucky mummy indeed!

I give up. The fact is, even though i am fairly new to the boards, they always provided me with a good laugh. Don't like it? Don't post or read in it. Let those who enjoy that thread keep enjoying it. Want to join? Do what i did. I posted there saying "Hi. I'm Konu. I am new to the forums and want to be part of this." Boom! They took me in (Mo even gave me my gold star). Why does it bother some people that the thread is still going? Are you so worried that it might actually be fun?
