Virtual Versailles - balloon tour and machinima opportunity there

Live theater - virtual Globe Theater

Lots of live musicians/singers well worth a listen - I just stumble across them, though. So I dont have any recommends.

Exploring virtual cities and the buildings in them, to see what goes on (real life reproductions of real cities, I'm still pretty awed by that.)

Amusement parks are amusing

Typing or voice chatting with people from all over the world (I do wish there were more places to have a PG rated voice chat.)

Typing random things into search or checking out people's picks pages to see what's new.

I guess I should have prefaced this thread by saying I visited some places that were fun when I first arrived in SL. All bright eyed, bushy-tailed(not a furry) and convinced of the unlimited possibilities that was the metaverse. Sadly, I visited these places only to find them sparsely populated if at all. One had even stooped, and it's only my opinion, to offering a sex mansion. When did sex become the driving force in SL? Oh yeah, when the banned gambling, but kept the obvious gambling game of Slingo/Zyngo.

Glad to see everyone is having "fun" in their own way. I used to enjoy times when I could talk with my friends and new people but it seems as the days have changed. Go to any heavily populated area and see mindless avies (alts or bots) camping for $L. I admit, when I first got here I did this as well(shame on me!). Rather, shame on the Lindens for making traffic stats any part of a search variable.

Keep the good ideas coming, mybe we can inspire a whole new group of SL residents to continue to create an enjoyable experience.

Agree with all the above except that sex has always sold in SL. However, I have to agree, places are dull dull dull and even I (whom many would say can definitely hold a kickass party) just don't bother any more. I go look at my island and then log off or go do something else and forget SL is logged in.

Guess the people saying "with my sweetie" are hitting the mark. I don't get much time with my sweetie anymore, he doesn't have too much access time cos of work and when you factor in time zones and tiredness on both sides then dealing with lag, voice connection issues etc ... we don't bother with SL (and I'd rather be looking at him that at his avatar anyway). I'm jaded, we've found other things to play with I guess. Will I spend time on SL when I am with him RL? Meh ... who knows!

@Clarissa = if you want PG rated voice chat try the sex areas especially the BDSM ones. Guaranteed they won't be talking about sex. I'd like to know where they ARE, frankly

I do know that there are too many places, all spread out, and that can't really be easily regenerated into the excitement SL had around the time I joined.
