I wanted to start a thread and see what, if any, things that are truly fun are left in SL. Open to any answers.

Well I am mainly in SL to build. Love building stuff, and love bilding my business. So for me, that is the fun.

Furthermore, the people in SL are fun. Most that I met were wonderful people. So even while I am not in SL for a social reason, the people around me often are fun.

So definitively there is anything fun left in SL. A lot even. But it all depends your likings. If your likings are gambling, playing bank, or participate in the wrong type of age play, there is not too much fun left I guess ;)

Fun is where you make it. There just isn't anyone in charge of entertaining you.

My main source of fun is exploring well-made sims with my favourite guy - there seems to be no end to interestings, artistic, creative and interactive places to visit. Check my Flickr photo album (address below).

However, I've also had hours of mindless fun just hanging around with other people doing no more than rezzing bizarre inventory items, chatting, dancing or whacking each other with watermelon shooters. (I think there recently was a 'just for fun' thread that shows that it's the silly stuff that people seem to value most)

While I believe SL is much more interesting when you're sharing your time with friends there, YOU are the only one that can make SL "fun" for yourself.

right now im havin some fun at exploring the new lands. But my guy and I are really into toys, and by that I mean cars boats bikes etc... lol and the weapons, we have a sim that is just a big playground with all kinds of things to do. Slowly more are showing up to hangout join in and lately that has been alot of fun, and alot of laughs. But yes there is alot of fun out there to be had and so many different things to do and try. How about for the holiday aproaching hitting a haunted house, I have been to some good ones in the past maybe that is what I will do this week ;)

I could show you some fun things, but then I'd have to kill you. I don't want others finding out about them. People seem to have a habit of spoiling fun.

What Lindal said. Well, most of it, since I don't teach or make stuff. :p

Spending time with my best friend who lives way far away
Attending live music events
Dancing with friends
Shopping for/decorating my house and landscaping my land
Exploring SL places I've never been; revisiting ones I love
Going through my landmarks folder and tping to ones at random to see what's still there.
Trying out all the nifty vehicles I have managed to acquire
Testing out goofy things like the flaming jack-o-lantern lobber I found last night
Riding my horse
This month: trying to catch all the Halloween-related builds

The Island was first discovered by accident in the early 1800's by merchants who shipwrecked here after a freak storm.

They had with them just enough food, water and livestock to survive long enough to set up a home on the Island .

They had given up any hope of ever being rescued by a passing ship.... But were they alone ?

The adventure awaits you !....... Are you ready ?

As with real life, the most fun you can have is conversing with other people of different sexes, locations and cultures, or even (it appears in many cases) from other planets. If they are clever then you can learn; if they are funny you can be amused; if they are provocative, you can be aroused; if they are foreign or talk in txtese you can try and solve the mystery of what they are trying to communicate to you; if they are over-emotional you can obtain satisfaction by annoying them with logic; etc . . .

Pep (and if they are stupid you can feel superior until you get bored)

Same Here. I know there are fun things out there to do, so many wonderful places built for us to just explore. I just prefer to build.

I guess I should have prefaced this thread by saying I visited some places that were fun when I first arrived in SL. All bright eyed, bushy-tailed(not a furry) and convinced of the unlimited possibilities that was the metaverse. Sadly, I visited these places only to find them sparsely populated if at all. One had even stooped, and it's only my opinion, to offering a sex mansion. When did sex become the driving force in SL? Oh yeah, when the banned gambling, but kept the obvious gambling game of Slingo/Zyngo.

Glad to see everyone is having "fun" in their own way. I used to enjoy times when I could talk with my friends and new people but it seems as the days have changed. Go to any heavily populated area and see mindless avies (alts or bots) camping for $L. I admit, when I first got here I did this as well(shame on me!). Rather, shame on the Lindens for making traffic stats any part of a search variable.

Keep the good ideas coming, mybe we can inspire a whole new group of SL residents to continue to create an enjoyable experience.

My advice is to try the live music scene. There is music for any taste on SL, and many good folks to go with it.

One of the blessings and curses of SL is its size. There is simply so much more land than people. On one hand, this gives you thousands of places to explore and see neat new things, or to have experiences far beyond the basics (for example, unlike what you might have seen in your SL experience, there *are* those who's SL experiences are not primarily driven by sexual need), on the other hand, it means that there are often many people scattered thin on the land, while the camping bots and other such things do their thing in a limited number of places.

From a very early SL age -- within my first couple weeks -- I determined that the ol' "Popular Places" was useless. Popular did not mean "fun," it meant there was some gimmick to bring you in.; In those days it was more casino gambling and camping than 'bots (they weren't invented yet!), and while I did try my hand a time or two on a gambling machine, I found it a time and linden waster.

I wish there could be a more "democratic" showcase. At the same time, I know it too would end up as gamed as anything else.
