philosophical question of the week: tolerance

I haven't seen any personal attacks by Clarissa on you, Loki. Are you perhaps an ESLer, and don't have that good a good grasp of the language to understand the nuances and subtleties of Clarissa's posts?

PS I have just noticed a considerable difference in the literacy of the posts you have made since you returned to the forums after a four month break between March and July this year. Would you care to offer an explanation for this personality change?

Shes brought personal accusations into every forum topic I've written in recently and directly addressed me. I would definitely call that a personal attack, but its not a reflection of my character in my view. She apparently feels a need to forum stalk me now as well.

Not nice at all. There are much more fun ways to orally challenge people at a party.

To a degree. I think the intolerant are entitled to their views -- and even entitled to the expression of those views as long as it does not actually harm another or cross into my private space. In other words, my house is my private space and I do not have to let you espouse whatever bigotry you feel like when you are there. However, you may say what you wish out on the public sidewalk.

Are you overly sensitive and paranoid in rl as well? The forums are a place where people can express divergent opinions. I have seen Clarissa post contrary views on lots of threads, not just the few where you have been seen recently.

I went back and reread every thread you have posted in since you came back to the forums on July 11. I see that you and Clarissa had some words in the Bot thread and my understanding is that you took it to the next level by verbally attacking her inworld. I do not see any forum stalking going on here either.

Maybe your skin is a little too thin for forums.

Your right I am making this all up.. She hasn't said any of that in the SL forums. Sorry it must have been me misreading the threads she was writing.

Check again.. Comments about me allegedly calling her names in game and using pornographic references? Shes made comments in about every thread I've written in. Probably because shes a forum troll. You can deny it all ya want but her posts are easily found in the topics I've been a part of the discussions in. Shes continued to talk off topic about something she seems to thinks happened in game. I think it shows who has the issue here. Seems that there are more than just her who can't seem to keep a topic on course and have to add to the drama. LOL YAY SOCCER MOMS. do ya'll have a group or something in game for that? LOL nvm I know you all probably do.

3 out of the 5 threads I've written in recently she brings it up out of the blue and makes the accusations. I would definitely have to say shes got "issues".

And you were doing so well up until this point. I'll give you a seven for effort, two for substance, one for presentation and null points for style.

Actually, it would be 3 out of 6 -- she has not posted anything to you or about you in the threads roughly titled 'Events have to be Xrated", 'Success in Introducing RL people to SL', and in the one about 'How to tell if group members receive notices".

And in the Builder Bot thread, there was lots of quoting back and forth between you before it got nasty.

So I would still say you are exaggerating in the comment that she is forum stalking you and posting in almost every thread you comment in.

Time will tell whether or not she is correct in her claims. LL can easily retrieve IM logs without relying on residents to forward unaltered ones to them.

If somebody IMs me in world and starts slinging mud over a forum dispute, I tend to have "issues" with them too. Along with alt head games, it's a quick way to win a place on my Mute list.

The Cartel has a rule: What happens in the forums stays in the forums. LL's forum guidelines work for the other direction -- what happens in world, stays in world and don't bring your personal disputes here.

To Clarissa: I suggest the Ignore feature of the forums, dear. It makes it harder for them to push your buttons. It works nearly as well as Mute in world. Now, THOSE are two tools that really DO help improve my Second Life Experience.

While my posts have gone slightly off topic as to the OP, they have been in direct response to something you have posted.

And they ONLY responded directly to your statements, with facts that I gathered by pulling up your posts and hers, rather than going off on the name-calling routine -- which by the way, your statement was dissing all true Soccer Moms out there.

Just for the record -- Someone trying to "settle" a forums debate In-world is creepy as hell.

I've always wondered what this thing is about sports and kids. You never get "paint-moms" or "library-dads" do you? "Performance-Artist Moms" I had one of those but more often than not she forgot.
To be honest I wouldnt want my Mum watching me do anything - quite unnecessary.
Anyway, she always introduced me as her sister. It's still hard to call her Mum. Oh, and just remembered, sometimes, a few years ago she got into the habit of calling me her "friend" when a bloke came along.

The most i will accept from an IM sent to me In World because of a Forum issue is an an apology or an offer to respectfully agree to disagree or them letting me know i hurt their feelings or was overly harsh, for which i will apologize.

But do not IM me to continue a debate, or insult me because of the stuff that transpires here.

I will gladly have a "lets rectify the situation" (as listed above) IM, but not an extended kvetch session that you felt you could not post in public.
