I had no idea what SL was coming in never heard of it either, but wow.

I am just surprised how powerful this place can be, I just immerse myself and roll with it. I don't think of any way that I use it or how I "play" in world I just go with the flow and don't think of putting any boxes around my experiences.

No.

Incidentally, a comma followed by an ellipsis is not proper English grammar.

second life is the matrix
There is no spoon. (=_=)

I don't like the word "play" for Second Life. I don't play Second life. To me, that's impossible. I play _in_ Second Life, but only after I go inworld. Since there is no obvious prize, level, or goal... There is no game. (=_=)

What is Second Life? ... Well ... It's a second ... life. Heh... Who woulda' thunk? (o.o)

I live in Second Life for a small part of my real life day every day and enjoy the places I find and the people I meet. (^_^)y

You can't win if you don't play.

This is debatable.

Que mechanical voice of "Joshua" from the movie "War Games":

"A strange game. The only winning move is not to play."

(That is on my list of favorite movies.)

That's just how I see it.

RL is more of a "game" than SL.

RL is a mandatory game of survival. SL is a platform...you don't have to play anything at all.

In SL you can be a driftin' hobo who never eats, drinks, has no shelter, and keep right on goin'. No goal neccessary.

I play it neither ways.

I use it as a training tool, a resume builder, a part time job, and a networking application.

Exactly, and I have seen quite a few folks over the years that use SL for similar reasons, and never "play" in it. Playing is optional, and it's a great platform for conferences, education, networking, etc.

To be honest, consensus among non SL residents is that if you "play" SL .. you are by definition a loser.

On a lighter note I remember a funny line from the film.. God knows who says it to whom:

Q.."Who first suggested the idea of reproduction without sex?"
A.. "Your wife?"

This kind of thread is always heavily biased.

The people who use it as primarily a glorified chatroom are usually in Second Life, chatting it up.

While the opinionated, business owners, creators and those who are at work .. Post on the forums.

The forums simply move too slow and talk about too many boring "issues" for real chatters.

Mr Potato Head. MR POTATO HEAD! .........That was the exchange between David and his biology teacher.

My favorite character was the General, he had some of the best lines.

Bless... pet names now,

be careful though..one thing leads to another:

tentative flirting, then less tentative flirting,

"accidentally" brushing against each other as we pass in the forums,

finding a quiet place to hold hands and maybe kiss (The Volunteer Forum seems good),

Falling in love and becoming Mr and Mrs Potato head.

One day you're tempted and lead astray by someone with a bigger, more satisfying head.

I'm left a sad and pathetic creature.. and start a thread entitled "All woman are sluts"

Sounds good..count me in!

SL Is Not A Game!!
05-20-2008 08:25
;) Second Life is not a game, even though you have gaming and RP regions.
You can also find all kinds of games scatered around the grid.

 This is mentioned at the NCI Q&As, go to them and see for your self.

:p As for the glorifed chat room thing, that is only true when the asset sever dies and nothing else works, other wise SL is anything you want it to be.

after you're done laughing, don't discount the therapy to be had by the good cry that will surely follow. broken hearts are beastly little things to fix. but they make for entertaining (if not pathetic) threads.

i'm compassionate. really. jsut ask me.

NOTHING that can happen in SL is going to be serious enough to cause me heartbreak, that lesson I've learned, or else I wouldn't have come back.

Although I have to ask... who is this Jezabell woman.. and what does she mean to you?

If she's a mere dalliance then that's fine, but if she means more then I'm not sure I can live with the uncertainty..

Perhaps... just perhaps.. if you feel you can't let her go.. I may be persuaded to let her share our little potato bed.

Although space will be tight, so we'll have to take our jackets off and perhaps smear ourselves in butter.

It's your decision obviously.. but I have warmed the butter to body temperature just in case.. don't ask me how.
