Hooray !!! Siggys swimmer HUD - version 2.0

Just heard it's working again... updated for HAVOK 4

Anyone tried it yet ? Does it work in all water ? Linden water ? Any kind of water ? Don't wanna buy til it's been tested. Call me cautious but it's been borked for ages and now the updated hud is now on sale. Hope it does work. Lov Siggys products n if it is working again then HOORAY !!!

Got it. Tried it. LOVE IT!

Many new options. This is reported to be an entirely new product, rewritten from the ground up. Apparently a permissions glitch allowed some jerk to make a full perms freebie out of the original Swimmer HUD, and so Siggy had to do a complete re-work to make this a unique product, far better than the pirated copy version.

Agreed, the new float and dive options are fabulous... it's wonderful to be able to dive off the shore without a diving board. My Swimmer is one of the few things in SL I wouldn't be without.

Thanks all for this information... going to get a new one now since it sounds even better than the previous one I have which doesn't work any more, and I have missed swimming.

imogen

Edit :

Ok... I just got it and its great...

Thought I would try the dive button, too far away from the pool.... my avatar did a perfect swan dive and embedded herself in the patio...

*embarrassed blush, rubs head*

I meant to do that.. really...

I did notice some odities though, and Siggy doesn't seem to be online much.
But, I'll try to summarize what I have:

-A pool with a sloping floor, it's located around 1040 meters altitude (just mentioning this, since it might be part of the problem)
-Prim water with the script that was included with the swimmer hud

The problem: At some depths, I get stuck! Can't move forward, backward or sideways. However, I can jump up out of the water (and I seem to jump way higher than normal when I do) and move while jumping, but well, that's not exactly swimming, is it? ;)

I'll be testing prim water at lower altitudes later, and will also try out varying with flat/slooping/higher/deeper pool floors etc.

But the attachment works perfectly in Linden water, I must say :D

I am able to use it to swim in the lake on my land which is at about 135m elevation. The water has to be deep enough, though. Where the depth is less than the height of my avatar I get stuck and have to keep tapping the PageDown key to get loose. But as long as I stay out of the shallow water, it works great!

From testing a bit, it seems the swimmer gets stuck when the swimming avatar is forced to change elevation by ground or objects. So I've sent a notecard to Siggy explaining this. Now let's just hope he's got time to work that one out sometime.
Oh, and I also put something about the water detection in the notecard, since I thought too that it would be nice if swimming could commence when the water is between chest and waist height already, instead of when you're almost drowning ;)

I think you'll find the answer to that on the thread linked above.

Thanks for recommending the new swimmer hud. I just bought it and it is both the most expensive thing (except for land) I've ever bought from another player and the best $2.00 I've spent in a long time. I swam all around Water Works and watched myself dive, change strokes, and float.

It works great! The additional new features make up for having to buy it. I just hope there are no problems with it in the future. My experience with support for version 1 was not very good, actually it was non-existent. After Havok 4 broke the old Swimmer I tried getting response from Siggy by IM and notecard about half a dozen times over a period of 2 weeks after which I simply assumed he was a creator that had left SL long ago. I realize now from talking to others that his response would have only been that he had no solution for the problem at the time but a response still would have been appreciated as a matter of customer courtesy.

I love swimming and loved the swimmer, but...I agree with Micheal and I am hesitant to spend more bucks to buy the updated version. I miss being able to swim...*sigh

*update: OK, I stand corrected. I read the post on updates. Now I understand whats going on. Guess I'll stop in and buy the new n' improved swimmer....YAY!

I love the new Swimmer and bought it. But I get a sound script error. Already sent Siggy an IM a few days ago, but he didn't reply. The sound error can be resolved by changing the script, says Mick Linden in a Jira comment:

"Investigation of the scripts show that a new loopsound request is being triggered whenever a key is pressed or being held down. Since the control() event is polled very rapidly, holding a key down for a second or 2 is queuing ~200 linked messages , which in turn trigger a looped sound in each instance. The script should be modified to trigger sound looping only once when the condition is first met, and switch it off or run a different looped sound only when the condition is no longer true."

The sound error is: 'Too many sound system requests. Throttled until average falls.'

JIRA issue is here: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7509

I am posting the error here, hoping that Siggy will read it and change the script.

Hi Paulo, in another thread, /327/a1/279563/1.html, starting at post 19, someone mentioned this, I think...

And last week, I received an update from Siggy - it's now 2.05...did you get yours? :)

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, both me and my friend (who bought his at the same time) have gotten updates that took care of it pretty darn fast. Try contacting him again? Capped IM perhaps?

Hehe, Darion and Maureen... Yes, I have the latest version 2.05 as displayed in his shop. Already fixed for Mono, it says, but still the sound error. I'll try sending Siggy an IM again.
