Version 2.0 is out? COOL!
You can test yours in any Linden body of water, preferably somewhere that the water is at least twice as deep as your avatar is tall, and has a fairly flat bottom. So head for the coastlines, and se how it works for you. Or go to Waterworks Island - Siggy's main store sim. He has lots of his pools set up there, for users to try before they buy. http://slurl.com/secondlife/WaterWorks/180/56/29 PS: Just bought my new one, and IT WORKS GREAT! Thank you Siggy, for making an updated version! YAY! I can swim again! _____________________

You can swim all the way around both Etopia sims as well as down some cool rivers and streams.

oh got to pick up 2.0
I used to have the water around my place as swimmable water but removed it since no one used it to swim heh (the water was messing up, and I did not want to double up the prims just to use it for swimming) _____________________

The sim I live on is surrounded by water, so I'll dive in and check out my neighbors properties. It's fun!

The Botanical Gardens is great for swimming, there's even a mermaid area if you care to do a little diving.

I live on a water sim in Warbluster with two Linden oceans on both sides. I "think" my profile has the location of the home of my future store...sometime...when I get to it
But most of Warbluster can be navigated at water level (ie no banlines or orbs) and then out into the ocean, so feel free to drop in there anytime. ![]() _____________________

You can swim off the beach area at True North Designs in Goun.
There is now a water sim near the Regency Estates Venice sim and Motor's World. You might take a look around the Nantucket sims, just watch out for sailing craft, lol. |

There is also wonderful swiming in the Caledon Inland Sea areas, as well as Aquaria and Beek Haven. Both Aquaria and Beek are RP sims, but the folks are wonderful!

Just a heads-up on this new version of The Swimmer... Just now got off the horn with Siggy in-world, and when I asked about an upgrade, I was given this notecard, and permission to repost it where necessary:
-------------------------------------Notecard Follows------------------------------------------- Swimmer 1.1 - 2.0 - havok etc. Answers. For close on 3 years since it's inception I've supported The Swimmer 1.0 and it's minor version tweaks (1.1 - 1.2 - 1.4 providing 'special case fixes'. During this time there have been updates that have broken update systems - destruction of customer databases due to reseting of scripts, and Linden 'server problems'. The biggest blow was a 'database error' at LL that changed permissions - essentially making items free to copy. This was the death blow to the swimmer 1.1 so far as updates are concerned. I've had comfirmation of them being bought from places I never vended from - never had accounts at, never been affiliated with who are now sending people to me for refunds for an item I never sold them. Frustrated? So am I. If you want to direct that frustration - please feel free to direct it at the people who are responsible for this situation: http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=560206 Here you see the swimmer being sold for $1 with copy perms - perms that were never set on the original (transfer and mod were the original) on a site I've never been a member of. I've also received IM's (way to many to even count) from people saying 'XYZ is an affiliate and said you'd replace this for me'..... There were never any 'affiliates' for WaterWorks products until Mid Aug 2008 - long after 1.1 was being sold (by me) - so if you've been told this - you have my condolences. Pass the name to me if you like, I'll add it to my list. Now the new physics engine has broken 1.1 - (technically not the physics engine - but other things rolled into that update) so thankfully many of the people passing and profiting from my work have given up. The solution? I can't expect anyone to re-buy the same product that's just been hacked back to work with the new engine... I don't think that would be right. I don't think that would be fair. I've rewritten the swimmer from the ground up as version 2.0 - with added features that I think provide better performance and value. Diving - customizable diving into pools. Zero buoyancy for scuba and similar swimming styles. Floating for just floating on your back and relaxing. Copy/Trans basic water script to make any prim water swimmable - and use in your own stuff. 9 new anims - including a swim for Tiny avs.. Plus many performance enhancements. This is not a 'rebadged hack fixed' product - it is a new product - in all ways. It is still 400L. I haven't raised it's price and I think it still gives excellent value for money... Sorry for the notecard reply - but I have too many of the same questions each day to answer individually. Cheers. Sig. -------------------------------------Notecard Ends---------------------------------------------- However, he does have some upgrades going out now, so if you've purchased one fairly recently, you might get a nice surprise when you wake up. |

Way I looked at it, even though I payed full for Swimmer 1.1, Swimmer 2.0 was well worth paying full for.

I was wondering why it was taking Siggy so long to fix the Swimmer for Havok 4. I can see now that he had good reason to want the new version to be a completely new product. It's a shame when a content creator gets burned like that by some twerp stealing their content and making it a 'freebie'.
Personally, I have no problem at all with paying for a brand new copy of The Swimmer for each of my alts. As soon as I found out 2.0 was available, I grabbed one for my main, without hesitation. Many of my alts and my friends have the older Swimmer, and I plan to let them all know the 2.0 is available now. And for my own accounts, I'll gladly just buy new copies. _____________________

I picked this up today, and while swimming around I get this "pretty" script error note over my head.. The error messages read "You: Too many sound system requests. Throttled until average falls."
Anyone have a clue what that is about? It may have nothing to do with the swimmer I guess, but I've never seen it before, and it only appeared while swimming (both at the mainshop and at botanical gardens). Edited to add: Seems it only appears when swimming at surface level, not when underwater.. |

That is a lovely error from the SL Server software. A while back they throttled sound requests at a certain level per sim, to combat griefers who were using tons of ambient sound sources to cause problems. The first time, they had the throttle set WAY too tight, and beautiful sims like Livingtree that had pretty ambient sounds for tea kettles, wind chimes, waves, crickets, bird songs, and water in the rivers became a sea of error messages, and a flood of error IM's to the sim owner. They reverted the change, and came back later with a less aggressive throttle. Sounds like it is still set too high.
It would seem that the sim you are in already has a fairly high number of ambient sound sources playing in the vicinity of that pool. Swimming in PrimSwim water activates a "splash" ambient noise as you paddle around on the surface. That effect can be disabled on the water, by the owner of the pool. Or you can have the land owners near the pool use fewer ambient sounds. _____________________

I enjoy swimming and I sometimes go to a large lake in the south-east of the southern mainland landmass (Jeogeot). The lake is 3 or 4 sims long and was swimmable along its full length last time I was there. I think you can swim all round Azure Islands, which is many sims.

Another suggestion. Go to the FairChang sims. Most of them have a lot of open water, and the residents are not supposed to set up any ban lines or security systems that can impede water traffic. I used to live in FairChang Palma, and regularly swam laps around my parcel-sized 4096 M2 mini-island. Adjacent to that sim; to the South, SE and East; are several OpenSpaces sims that allow lots of open water for boating, or swimming in.
