My advice to the OP is to take advantage of the UK's extensively equipped public library system. You can read atleast 20 books in that three weeks.

WOW... This has nothing to do with it... First off... My IP shouldnt have been banned , they should have closed her account yes until further investigation.. notified her of this and done things properly .. this is my complaint.. As far as mine and my husbands accounts it is wrong to just ban the IP... I will continue to bombard LL with emails and I will continue to stamp my fist as I dont use my feet. I am angry over the situation that has taken place , I understand closing her account but give her a warning and investigate but to take the word of one person and close it without any warning or looking into it is a PROBLEM for all of us. I hope noone ever does something like this to you or anyone else as it is UNFAIR

You will gain only one thing by that approach; a stomach ulcer.

They have investigated; they've asked her to verify her age - that's the investigation. She is suspended pending the results of that investigation, as is right and proper.

NO they have not investigate as they closed her account and IP within a couple of hours from the complaint with no email or anything just shut us down.

The person that asked us to send info about her age said.. YOU may have to do this in order to get her account reopened.. He also said he couldnt help us as this wasnt his department.. THis was from me calling customer service not from them asking for anything. I already have 3 stomach ulcers what is one more ... I am just trying to make a point here and that is that things should be done differently. This can happen to any of us at any time. If someone doesnt like you or what you do they can simply put in a ticket and poof your gone.. IS this right? No its not... There is ways to deal with this.. Upon doing some research about complaints on age I have read from the site that if this happens the person will be directed to teen sl .. account will be closed in second life and that is that .. this is not what happened at all

Yes it is. That is how LL does business unfortunately. I still think the best course is to wait until you can provide the required information. . I would also file a complaint against the other person for harrasment.

As far as they know, all of those accounts could belong to your purportedly underage daughter, and she could just sign up for another one if all they did was suspend the existing accounts...that's why they banned the IP. I'm not saying they didn't jump the gun in your case, but the procedure itself makes sense.

Do any of you have a Premium account? Live Chat has several options for different help departments and may actually be a better option than calling Billing in this case. If none of you are Premium, you might consider paying the $9.95 fee for one month of service so you can try Live Chat...you'll get about half the cost back in weekly stipend, so it's really fairly cheap.

Yes I understand what you are saying. The thing is My husband and I have been in sl for over 2 years. He is british and I am american so obviously they will know from our accounts that we didnt live in the same household back then. I guess maybe I should just give up and say goodbye to second life. I am really gutted over this now Lindens dont seem to care and why should they . we are just 2 people out of millions that they have on there site ..

I have thought about becoming a premium member but at this point it wont matter , I will get the same run around that I got before from the phone customer support

Good idea. Or perhaps you have a friend who you can contact that is a Premium Member. Perhaps they can get to Live Help on your behalf.

To the OP, you're daughter was reported as underage. Yes, they IP ban, because they don't WANT her making alts and coming back. It's actually standard procedure for most MMOs. My recommendation is to find a friend and log in from their house once in a while.

I do have one question: Why the heck is the only form of ID your passports? I thought LL took driver's license too...

I really doubt they're keeping track of that.

It's not odd at all. It's something that is sent to adults - not all adults, but adults just the same.

No, it's not odd, not really. Most government agencies accept it to prove residence and nothing more. They do not actually accept the bill alone, however. You must have either a birth certificate and/or a driver's license with it.

And no, student ID's do not count, while military ID's do.

But combining a passport with a driver's license should cover the issue of age. Both have pictures and both have D.O.B on them.

I believe in all the legaleze everyone skips over reading when they check "I accept" while making an account clearly states Lindens can and will close/delete accounts at their discretion. Just saying.

As for the rest of it, you're in bloody ENGLAND on vacation or something. I'd give my left nut to afford such a vacation, and would not be bitching about being unable to get into SecondLife while there.

Honestly, it can wait till you're back home. Enjoy Real Life a while, and worry about Second Life (or Fake Life, as my spouse calls it) when the vacation travels are over.

Is it fair that Lindens can delete or ban people? Well, if they have any reason (and they don't really need one, thanks to the contract we all accept when signing up), then yes.

Can I just ask: if you are living in the UK with your husband (who is British) and you normally (I assume) reside in the US (because you are American?) - whose IP address has actually been banned? Yours in the US or your husband's in the UK?

If it's your husband's IP in the UK, and you will all be returning to the US in three weeks, can you simply not access SL from a neighbour's or friend's PC, then you will be able to access SL once more when you return to the US and your non-banned IP over there. If you have important things to attend to (such as inworld rent etc needing to be paid) that will at least enable you to get inworld and see to those things.

If your husband is remaining behind in the UK because he is a citizen here then he should have access to all of the information Linden Lab is requesting from him. If he can't find his birth certificate, he can apply for a copy of it. This page has more info:

If it is your IP in the US, then you should be able to access SL here in the UK (I'm assuming because of the two posts you've made so far, and the level of frantic forum gesticulation, for lack of a better expression, you're banned here and now in the UK).

Surely, if one IP is in the US and one is in the UK, and only *one* IP has been banned, the other must be working.

Regardless of how and why you were banned (unfortunately, this is Linden Lab's policy, and all of us agreed to it when we clicked to accept the ToS when we first logged in) no matter what happens, you only have to wait three weeks to be able to access all of the official data that Linden Lab requires you to send in order to reinstate your accounts.

Yes, three weeks is a long time (I would hate to be outworld for that long and unable to get in, I admit it) but if that is how long you have to wait, then that's how long you have to wait.

You're living in the UK with your RL family. The weather's a bit chilly and wet at this time of year, but most of the museums have free entry, there are some fantastic galleries and family-oriented places to visit here. Go do some family stuff and enjoy a bit of First Life for a while.

n then show that you have evidence of the convo..but the way how the linden reacted showed that she didnt place a mere underage player report..there is more to it than that.. to tackle the ip ban get in contact with your isp and either cancel your account with them and open a new 1or ask them to give u a new ip address..and for the Bish who did this to ma SL daughter .. your ass is next on ma list..i known her for a year nw and know she aint the sort to get with ppl on here n then link them in rl... sl is sl rl is rl..seems like yo ass dnt know da diff..[pardon ma language j] anyway let the hunting begin
