Oh, well, that's different. If that's the situation, I think we should all push, AR, and get each other suspended. I mean, to help them make quota and all.

Coming soon: Donation appeal for the G-Team Widows and Orphans Fund.

Replace "bug fixed" with "AR acted on"?

edit: In general, I don't have a problem with the gteam and don't want to slam them too much. The action in this thread is pretty bad, though, and rhymes so well the PHB.

Hi there,

Thank you for the additional information relating to the recent incident. I've noted the details on your account. I've made a correction to your account so the suspension will not count against you in the future.

We now consider this matter closed.

Best regards,

means my account is clean again.

Congrats to have your account clean.
Good news you know who filed the AR most likely assume it was stupid person who asked you why the painting fell on them.
You can ban them from your land:)
I am sorry they didn't say I am sorry.

a piece of art fell on another resident

what?

um, at first I imagined a painting falling off the wall onto someone. That doesn't make any sense though, since a) it's impossible for things to fall off the wall in SL, and b) you can't get suspended for that.

I'm assuming there's a little more backstory here than what was offered in the first post, such as, say, the art in question was a bomb.

ADDITION: Just noticed the Flickr page. Okay so a link fell off a physics enabled chain and landed on someone? Yeah that's a pretty ridiculous AR.

I am pretty surprised that no one has made this observation -

1. The AR wasn't for one "push", it was for 20 pushes.
2. The ban wasn't for one "push", it was for 20 pushes.

The person who ARed didn't know they hadn't been attacked 20 times.
The LL employee didn't know they hadn't been attacked 20 times.

I think this is the biggest factor. I can understand someone filing an AR for 20 pushes. I can understand a LL employee issuing a ban for 20 pushes.

It was a misunderstanding. Do you really expect LL to take the time to investigate every seemingly extreme attack like this?

It was unfortunate, but to me, condemning either the player or LL for their actions is a bit out there.

I, too, was horrified when it looked like it was for one push. But for 20? I can understand how that happened. If I am viewing this incorrectly, I apologize.

Just my opinion. I am glad everything has been worked out. I just think that the LL bashing in this case is a bit out there.

Or does everyone out there think it's wrong to be banned for a day for 20 attacks on someone?

How did a piece of art manage to fall on another resident?

A lot of the art at Brooklyn is Watching is scripted and kinetic. It's supposed to move around. There have been pieces where the dispersal of the art by visitors (typically by walking into it and pushing it around) is the main point of the piece, and walking into those would also register as collisions.

good points in a ideal SL.

but it's not ideal, it appears a lot of AR reports are being acted on without investigation (…and or thought).

the decision to ban avatars without any recourse isn't ideal and the way it's implemented means it can be used as a griefing tool too.

i have been under this artwork when it fell, in my viewer I saw 20 frames fall around and on top of me, only 1 or 2 hit me, to be hit by all 20 one would have to be running around pretty quickly.

the effect on a avatar on one of these frames hitting you is less than flying head first into a wall or a ban line, actually running into a ban line is much more dramatic.

in all my time in SL I have never noticed a push on me, they have happened, so to see a push on you, do you have to be looking for it? if so why?

the person who reported the incident accepted they shouldn't have reacted the way they did so quickly, they even helped to clear Selavy's name.

there are some very good, well balanced replies about this incident on the BiW blog, link in the first post. we all understand that dealing with ARs is an impossible task, we just want a better option for this.

I have a notecard of a Linden making that exact claim... "All ARs are investigated." Though, considering the number of threads on this subject lately, I'm not so ready to believe it. (=_=)

To give credit though; I've had Lindens arrive in person in response to nearly half the ARs I've issued. It's kinda nice to get the opportunity to thank them when they're doing a good job. (^_^)y

I don't think it's wrong to be banned for 20 attacks, but to consider this incident an "attack" is extremely far fetched.

The Caledon Trolley and the trains take out avatars all the time. At least one a day, I'd say... though generally you can see them coming.

The trollies or the avatars?
