i woke up like 9 hours ago.. couldnt rez much .. logged, watched a movie, made some textures... took a looooong nap...
and woke up

no change?

no change. no sense in even logging in is there?

and them asking for the UUID..... sounds like they deleted some stuff from the ass-eat server and need the numbers to fish them out of the trash can...

happy days. :D

Yes, now they want tickets submitted on nonrezzable items with UUID's (if the UUID is zero, I would still submit a ticket with the item name and zeroed UUID, just so they know).

I just noticed that there are new ticket types for Basic (non-Premium) users (the Special Question variety), including "There was an item in my inventory window, but it isn't working or is missing." Think I'll use that one.

As Nika mentioned above, about basic account, We have no way to report this.

What are we supposed to do about this then?

File it as a JIRA issue?

I have been testing this morning. No matter what object I choose in my inventory, Copy Asset UUID returns all zeroes, whether I can rez the object or not. This is happening in both 1.20.17 and 1.21.5.

I can rez the objects successfully in a neighboring sim where I have build perms on the land, but the same objects fail on my own land in my home sim.

Clearing cache and relogging, doing a search to force load inventory has no effect on this.

I have been adding comments to my support ticket as I do these things.

So, you got them to work on another person's land, but not your own?

Well, I'll be. I couldn't get that to work yesterday, but it does today. I was able to rez the pieces when I was on another sim altogether.

Hmm.. maybe those of us affected should ask for a sim restart?

Edit: Okay, since I am the creator, I made copies of my items after rezzing them and wore a copy when I teleported home. I was able to wear the copy once I got home, but could not wear the original. Keep in mind, this was without cache clearing and the copy also still has a UUID of 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.

Still wearable after a cache clearing. So, temporary workaround: Go to another sim with build enabled. Rez object, take a copy, wear the copy, teleport home and the copy should be fine.

Well, the tone of the Status Blog post would indicate that is is more than just a sim restart issue but, maybe. I'd think they would have thought of that already but, who knows.

I also posted a JIRA issue for the issue of Copy Asset UUID returning all zeroes...

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-9645

If others can confirm this, please comment and vote there.

I just noticed something.. the copy asset UUID is returning 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 for EVERYTHING in my inventory. Even things that are working just fine.

I'm using the RC. I'm going to try the main viewer.

Edit: Main viewer is having the same problem. For objects, it is only returning 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000.

Is there another way to get a UUID?

Hi, Kathy. This appears to be a server-side issue, since it happens with all clients (even third-party older clients). There is already a server-side bug for this, SVC-418 ("New and Old Items have no detectable UUID (show null 00000-00-00-00000 ), and when passed to other Avi's show no UUID)";).

I am going to close your bug as a duplicate (along with MISC-1215, "All prim items have the UUID 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000";).

This is rather serious, so please do vote for SVC-418!

UUID's can also be gotten via script.

Ok, will vote for that issue, hard to get a UUID by script for a support ticket when you can't rez the object to put a script in though.

Oh, argh. It appears that the Copy UUID menu choice has never been intended to work on Objects in inventory:

From: Viktoria Dovgal
Right, that doesn't work on objects in inventory, it does work for non-object assets like textures, scripts, notecards. This isn't a new thing. The request for UUIDs in the status blog simply wasn't a well thought out one :/

So, effectively, there is no way to report a UUID for a nonrezzable object. Lord knows what LL meant in their blog posting.

I don't know if the zero UUID thing has been that way forever, but it has acted that way for a long time. The good news is that it doesn't indicate any new troubles. The bad news is that the UUIDs aren't available for us to pass along to support :(

Well, I did manage to rez one of my objects in a different sim, still failes at home though.

Dropped in llGetKey() and reported the key in my support ticket.

EDIT: Ok, well this is fun, while updating my support ticket, the object I had rezed got auto returned from the parcel I was on. Went home and rezed the object from my lost and found and it worked fine. However, the original in my inventory still failes to rez on my home parcel.

So today more items rez than yesterday at least? None of the products in my "packages" folder rezzed yesterday, while most of them do today... My Slideshower, package of Poses and package of amethyst colored bodysuits (all the other colors do) still sadly won't rez. :(

Strangely three of the items are right next to each other while the amethyst color pack is the last item and totally separate (sorted by time).

I haven't even gotten to my clothing or my main object folder yet, I know many people had problems with skirts and hair last night. :(

Of course, not only are all the UUIDs 0s, but if you manage to rez the item elsewhere and use a script to get the key, I thought objects are provided with new keys on each rez, so would that even be useful?

Meanwhile now my trash has filled up with slews of items as I deleted what DOES rez, LOL

Not only that, but the rezzed object is now an object that does rez, so it's of no interest to them.

It's now a full day and they haven't managed to fix it. I don't remember and asset server/database problem taking anywhere near this long to fix.

however if the item is a no copy item, you are screwed cuz that won't work

I have not tried yet to see if I can get a uuid for mine

I will try to give them as much info as possible on the items that won't rez

one of them is a fully loaded paradise blanket that would not rez yesterday

Yeah, I know. It sucks with the non-copy, but it was the only thing I could do. *mutters* Besides find some more duct-tape to send to LL for their servers!

It appears that they've fixed the problem - according to the status blog. I just logged out to go to bed so I can't check it myself.

Well, they say it is fixed but, none of the objects I have had trouble with will rez. They are STILL asking for the UUIDs from Inventory of any troublesome objects, which it is impossible to get. I have stated that in my support ticket, which I filed nearly 10 hours ago and is still in NEW status.

So, I have no idea how to proceed from here other than to just write off the objects that I can't rez because there is no way to tell them the UUID of the failing objects.

Actually, it says, UUID if you can.

I haven't check it, since I'm off for bed too. But hopefully, in the morning, this will all have been one heck of annoying dream.

Sadly my unrezzed items remain as such too, and who knows how many others there are in my inventory, and how many other people haven't run across their own yet?

/me shudders

At least they labeled it "Final" instead of "Resolved"? And yes, my ticket is still marked "New" as well...

It would be nice if the UUID was written to a log somewhere when you tried to rez things, especially for no copy items when they disappear from people's inventories! I've been too scared to try rezzing no copy items during this, but I suppose now is the time to check them too since they say they fixed the "system failure"?

/me worries

Wish me luck please! :o

Nope, it's not fixed. I still can't rez the original items on my home sim. So, I did it, dropped in a UUID script and did it from that.

*tosses up hands* At least I don't have to reload/buy my stuff.... *sighs*

Same for me - items that wouldn't rez yesterday, still won't rez.

It seems to me that the word "FINAL" means they can't fix the past and they've given up trying to sort out items that wouldn't rez, and that the words "The system failure which has been spreading this annoying behavior to additional assets has been repaired." means that the cause of it won't affect additional items, but the items already affected are permanently borked.

I'm going to have to go round and take new copies of everything in the store.
