Thank you Colette, Rene is making huge unnecessary noise because I beleive he took a dislike to me over being a cartel member. I probably could not have said anything that would not have painted me black after he made the cartel comment early on. I don't even know why, I have never attacked him nor used the cartel as an argument to bully anyone.
His only excuse I have seen is that he found my first post aggressive, but admits he does not participate much so he doesn't know the tone of the forum on this particular issue.
I think all us fairly regular posters on the subject can agree we are well past pandering to peoples delicate sensibilities on this subject a long time ago. I was direct and to the point, nothing more.

To bring the thread back on topic, I assumed bots would be against the ToS if and only if they were unfairly using a sims resources, but only when connected to a dance pad.

I wish that they'd at least limit the number of bot connections per a sim.. that would hardly impact the bots that are used properly.

Funny thing is Rene has the biggest case of wanting to get in the last word, because he can't stop unless he feels he has had it.

Apparantly a mainland sim can have a max of 57000 (approx) traffic points. So by rights by a persons own endeavours to get people to increase that traffic should correspond with a fair share of the possible traffic count for the land that they own.

For example if you have bots that take up 30000 of those maximum traffic points then you should be looking to own around 3/5ths of the land too. Obviously through no fault of anyones it gets quite unfair just like number of avs on a sim at a business or a party.

However for a business owner to deliberately seek to gain more of those points then he knows he should be seeking to gain, I beleive he commits an abuse even without camping chairs.

Indeed, as was discovered by someone who was upset at the traffic at an info hub and started finding ways to fill slots themselves

The hard part is server side detection of a bot, since server side (not client) the show up as standard avatars.

Actually, the use of the points limit could actually be used to track who is likely to have bots and who isn't, now that I know about the system.

Just watching and studying the average place in contrast to a known bot and then known camping sites would give you an idea of what is 'fair usage' for a shop or club.

Also, don't bots usually share the same IPs? Maybe a concurrent connection limit from the same IP might be easier and make it more costly for the bot owners to run 'em?

Not sure that they have to - they mostly do because they sit behind one firewall on one DSL connection for the most part I expect. However as soon as you assume that some of the more ingenious ones will find ways of logging their bots in from a friends house or something.
