Hi annna. I haven't posted anything to you yet. So, I thought I would chime in and say hello. Hello... welcome to the forums.

I think people are mostly done with the begger thing now. So, just drop it yourself and it will probably go away. You can never be sure though. I hope you enjoy the forums and don't get bogged down by this.

Hi Anna- I came back :D. Just because you do not know a different language well hardly makes you stupid! I think it's great that you are putting yourself out there and that you do speak (write it) well enough to risk communicating here. Welcome - honestly.

An "alt"...another Second Life account and avatar name...is something that a lot of people use. If you do a forum search, you'll find out many reasons for having an alt.

There are some downsides. You've already spent some time customizing your avatar, and buying things for her. Many items are No Transfer, and you can't give those to your new alt.

You've also invested your time in your Second Life avatar. She's met people, started relationships both good and bad. Do you want to start over?

You have just begun your Second Life. The only reason I'd make an alt now is if you really, really hate your name. Your avatar name is almost the only thing you can't change about yourself, so if you don't like it, now is the time to get a better one.

Besides, we already got somewhat acquainted - so pull up a chair and make yourself at home. Think the name thing though if it pleases you to change it or not- if you do change it by creating a new account, you should know there are certain connotations to the no cap name- anna instead of Anna - and unless it either doesn't bother you at all or it is your choice and on purpose, then you might want to make sure you use a capital letter if you decide to create an alt account.

What Amaranthim means is that submissives, slaves, and pets in the BDSM/Ds lifestyle often use lower case letters for their names. But not all do, and not everyone with an un-capitalized name is a submissive.

Wait- how did we get beggar from what is Xstreet? What did i miss?

This is pleasant to you!!!!????

Actually...

Yes.

As a native English speaker - that is not a negative tone of writing. What it conveys is confusion: "How did the thread change subject? What did I miss?"

- It conveys the poster feeling there is something going on they are not aware of, and they would like to know what that something is.

I give extra slack on tone to people who are not native English speakers. If you are not a native English speaker - you will go a long way assuming the tone of something in English is neutral as often as you can manage to.

That's pretty much true for any language. You can fill in tone when hearing -and- seeing it in person -if- you also know the culture. But otherwise, when communicating with people who speak a different language as their native language - assume the tone is neutral.

There are way too many BDSM people on teh interwebs...

I've never heard this one before... and I used to use a lowercase spelling of my name for years online.

That said, there -are- a lot of BDSM people in SL, so maybe it is wise to learn a little about their quirky culture.

Credit cards aren't used as commonly in Europe as in the US.

.

It depends of the country, here in Portugal they are very common... in fact I have 2 and I had to reject 2 others because I wouldn't use them at all, banks keep sending us the cards to see if we keep them

But as Lindal pointed out - it is NOT always. Many folks just began with lower case out of habit of nt using caps. And this is not just an SL thing, btw. In other such on line venues it is even prefered if not outright demanded. For SL though, it is a happenstance thing, but something to be aware of.

Hi annnnnnnnna.

Did you make a new av? I haven't seen you posting lately.

She's right about credit cards not being common in Bosnia. I know some people over there and right now it's a very depressed economy. Luxury spending isn't a big priority. Most people apply for credit cards because there is something they 'really want' and/or their nation relies heavily upon it. Such as in the States try staying in a hotel without one.

It's a whole other frame of reference, though. (Sorry to talk this way publicly. My main point is just that it is different. Different culture, etc.) There are no centrally regulated things for having enough to eat, a place to live, etc. This is as I understand it. So the notion of owing money to some centralised entity is probably not a usual thing. Note, I am not saying everyone there is the same, etc., etc.

As far as a new av I just wanted to say, hope you still come here and say hi annnnna, maybe even let us know it is you. People here tease a bit but they don't bite. Everyone (at least, the regs for sure) here is actually really nice. Different opinions? Bah, my nation was founded on that. ;p

About small first capital letter in names, I didn't know either until someone in an AOL chat room (not That kind of chat) told me. When not posting in a static environment (i.e. when in live chat) I tend to do all lower-case. I'm just lazy and also think it is faster, thus more efficient. If pressed I just say I am a fan of e.e. cummings.

Really? Where should they be then? :p

I think for many of us of that persuasion, the internet has been invaluable for finding others we can relate to, often for the first time in our lives, so of course we are going to talk about it and celebrate it a bit - we are just "coming out" :)

My lower-case first name has nothing to do with my BDSM orientation - I've never been a sub, slave or a pet. It was simply lazy typing when I signed up for SL. It's never caused me a problem. Perhaps some people judge me on it but nobody's ever said anything. If I could change it I probably would, but I don't think it's really worth worrying about. I'm just glad I didn't choose something with a string of numbers in it.

Back on topic ... I use XStreet to look for stuff, but once I find what I want, I buy it inworld. Some things, like animations, hair and skins are worth checking inworld before you part with your cash, and if you buy inworld direct from the creator, LL don't take a cut ;)
