Hi everyone  A little while back, I wrote an open-source animation overrider that's become somewhat popular. I recently received a complaint because it uses the word "sexy" in the documentation, and someone found it offensive. The context of its use is as follows: "Example: If you have a custom animation for walking called “Sexy-Walk #1″ you have to type exactly that on the line under the “-=Walking=-” posture state keyword. -=Walking=- Sexy-Walk #1 =Running=- -=Crouchwalk=- [...]" I'm trying to determine if many people find this word offensive, but were too polite to complain about it, or is this really just the voice of just a very small minority of people. My personal feeling is that it is a perfectly appropriate word in this context - it describes someone's gait in strong, fluid, and exaggerated physical tones, but does not invoke any carnal implication. As such, I'm not particularly inclined to change it. However, if it turns out that I've been inadvertently offending people for years, perhaps I should consider revising the documentation. What do you think? Tell the person that found it offensive.. to go on a diet and it wouldnt be lol _____________________

If you had received 10,000 such complaints from 10,000 different people in short Order i would assume you Had Crossed a Line. Since it seems to be Just One Individual in all the ones who have received your Gift, I would suggest you have just encountered an overly sensative person who is prone to taking Offence at the most Innocuous of Phrases. Just the Fact you Ask this question demonstrats that you are More than sufficiently sensatve of other peoples Feelings, so i wouldn't worry too Much.

Feminists of the 60s and 70s generations put a lot of energy into declaring that sexualizing women was objectifying them. To that generation, almost any reference to sexuality is negative. Sexual references, especially to women, and often even sexuality itself - were classified as dehumanizing women by making them nothing but sex objects. Feminists in the 90s and 00s have put some energy into reclaiming their sexuality. Though they're doing so in a much more conservative era. That said, the new motto is often more that sexuality and sex are parts of a person - and you can embrace your inner sex-goddess and even be a sex-object without giving up any of your personal empowerment, dignity, or equality. Ie: You can be sexy (and so can guys now), and strong - and both of these can be positive things. It doesn't have to be one or the other. I think you'll find that it often, though not always, depends on the age of the person as to whether or not sexy is negative or possibly even a compliment. _____________________

I would have to say that whoever complained about the word "sexy" in AO documentation, particularly as a proper noun, is either not serious or nucking futs!
Maybe if someone reminded this complainer, in all the graphic, gory detail, of how he or she came to be in this world? _____________________
