Clarissa,

Thanks, I'm still flying into walls though. ;)

Dawnee,

I've been planning on doing voice files and I happen to be an Irish American. My brogue isn't perfect, but I can give it a try. Give me a week to get it done. :)

Hey thank you Hearttau! I'm looking for "nice girl" gestures - if you contact me Inworld maybe we can come to an arrangement? :)

Hi Ingrid,

I sent you the gestures I made myself. It's not Kurt's HUD gestures, you'll have to ask him about those. ;)

Careful about anything done for or by kids unless you are a kid avi -- that kid giggle is really annoying to many adults.

THAT!!!

And that insidious "baby talk" :(

Presumably baby talk and giggling will be ARable offences in Zindra?

Heart, at this rate you will have your own gesture shop soon!

(It's not a bad idea.)

Sure but I'd add gestures at the end so people know what it sells. Then again plenty of shops don't, and do fine.

You sure hit the ground running. No flies on you!

Sure, mentioning what I sell would be a good thing. ;)

Now I'm thinking "Ladies and Lords Gestures", but I'm getting ahead of myself. First, I need something to sell. I still want to give away the basic chat gestures as a freebie and maybe sell the voice gestures. As far as accents go Irish and British are definitely possibilities I can do myself, and there is probably a language site with free voice samples that are public domain if my voice doesn't sound good enough.

As long as it stays fun and nobody minds a little friendly and polite competition, I might as well give it a try. :)

British?

Pep (Where do they speak that? Maybe where Dick Van Dyke found his speech coach for Mary Poppins?)

Isn't vet/vetted used in the UK also? I am feeling very literal this morning.

"Vet" has at least two meanings . . .

Pep ( . . . one of which makes me want to cross my legs.)

It isn't short for covet, but that would make 3.

Thank you. Now if I could only get my microphone to work in game, then I wouldn't need my own voice gestures. :)

Uploading sounds?
07-21-2009 14:06
Another question please. I watched the Torley video on uploading sounds, since I am ready to try some of my voice files on the test grid. He mentions trimming the files to ten seconds, However, what he seems to do method wise, is delete part of the track rather than compress it which is what would seem to be the logical thing to do. He always goes a bit to fast for me. None of my files are over ten second but I do want to understand for future reference. Compressing isn't involved?

Thanks very much again.

P.S. How do I access the test grid BTW? :)

P.P.S. I tried an upload to the regular grid and the file plays fine. Yippee! :)

compression doesn't change the length, only the size

when he refers to the 10 seconds he means that the sound file can not play for more than 10 secs.

so the reason he deletes it is because it is say 12 secs long, shave off 2 secs.

hope that helps
