Polite voice gestures anywhere?

Hi Folks,

I've searched all over SL for a few simple voice gestures, Please, Thank You, and You're Welcome. I'm a newbie and I know that there are G and PG areas of second life so it comes as a surprise that these gestures are not among the default voice gestures provided by Linden Lab.

I'm disabled, so any short cuts in communication would be a great help and polite voice gestures would be nice to have. Do they exist anywhere?

Thanks very much

When I log in later tonight I will look through my gestures and see what I have. Any appropriate ones I will send your way in world. I hope others do too.

Wow, a set of Gestures that I actually would use -- depending on the associated animation anyway.

House of Gestures may have some, they have several done by kids.

I'll also talk to my sl landlord, she had gestures made using her daughters voice, and may have them for sale.

She does, look up 'Taylor Lane' in sl and theres a shop in her picks- Taylors closet.

Careful about anything done for or by kids unless you are a kid avi -- that kid giggle is really annoying to many adults.

I don't use Animations in most of my Gestures...LittleMe...
I have always preferred Sound and Chat... :)

At this time the Gesture HUD's are all Chat and sound only...

Thanks for the tip Nicole.

I've been to House of Gestures and didn't see anything there.

I'll rummage through 'Taylor's Closet' and see what I can find. As long as it doesn't make me sound too young. ;)

That and the "snorting laugh" (which isn't a kid gesture...just one I find particularly annoying.)

I hate that laugh. Yesterday I TPd to a shop and the greeter said Hi and we started talking and she happen to find something I said very funny - I did not think it was too funny really -- and all of a sudden there was this funky wheezing laughing sound, combined with the snorting and some hiccup like noises and her avi had grabbed her stomach and was bending over forward and then straightening and then bending....... on and on and on.....

I wasn't sure whether to laugh or scream at the complete absurdity of it.

*small voice*

I had already sent her the snort AND the PeeWee laugh.

I couldn't resist...I love those (I use very sparingly)

*snorts*

Hallo Hearttau, do you specifically mean "voice" gestures - ones which are triggered when you use voice in SL? They are triggered by the volume level when you speak and work together with lip synchronising to make spoken communication more realistic.
I can send you some voice gestures if you do, and there are some default ones in the Library at the bottom of your Inventory. The other sort of gestures go with typing in the chat bar.

Hi Deira,

Being a newbie, I'm not sure what I mean. :) I bought a voice gesture pack at Huddles that may be what you're referring to. I haven't had the chance to really figure out how to set it up though. What I had in mind was some script where I press a key and an audio file plays. Exactly like Kurt's HUDs.

Which gestures in the Library are you referring to? I'd like to try them out. Most likely it won't work because mikes generally don't pick up my voice enough, but I'm willing to give it a try and see if it works for me. Thanks very much.

Gestures can be triggered using different methods. Mostly they are run by by typing commands into the chat line, or by pressing function keys or a combination of 2 keys - these can be specified when the gesture is created.

If you use voice in SL, using a head set with a microphone, you can also trigger gestures by the sound of your voice. These depend on the level/intensity of the sound, and there are 3 levels - low, medium and high.

I'll drop you some notecards about using voice when I get in world and there is lots more in the KB here:

https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=4417

It seems that you want the first sort of gesture though - which you trigger via the keyboard.
