A friend, trying to locate a particular shop, TP's into the wrong one (using an old LM). Realising his error, he does a quick search and TP's out to the right shop. Moments later he receives the following IM... " Shop owner name removed): Congratulations, you have been permanetly banned from (shop name removed) for staying less than two minutes and not purchasing anything... is that even enough time to rezz all of the textures?" Is it my imagination, or are some people in SL becoming more and more irrational? I must admit, we're rather tempted to give the wrong LM to all our friends

Ignore that opengl can not protect images from copying by still trying to sell them and then be paranoid about it. priceless.

I shall now wait and see. TP'd in a few times and stayed less than the obligatory two minutes oh, even though I was there briefly, the textures aren't worth ripping off.

Besides the fact that texture stealing slows the system down, so they're likely to be there the 'required' two minutes while stuff loads anyways. Not sure what the person is trying to accomplish. SLURL, please?

Obviously this person is an idiot for banning a potential customer, but as a merchant, it does annoy me how many people TP in , wait a minute then leave. Understandably some are in the wrong place or are crashing, but when you have a steady stream of customers and a % do this on a daily basis then it's got to raise the question of why. Banning and then critising someone isnt the best approach, i've tried to address the issue by using really low resolution textures and simple prim shapes at the landing point in case they are getting impatient for things to rez, but they still leave before they have had a chance to see anything let alone my products. That aside I still make a very good living so I dont really care that much. Maybe this guy is on his last legs and about to loose his business so banned your friend purely out of frustration.
Has anyone actually IM'ed him to find out why he did it or are you all too busy deliberately trying to annoy him?

If I tp to a store and instantly see that I don't care for the products on sale, I tp out. I tend to cam around to see what's on offer rather than walk and browse, but surely it's my prerogative to spend less time than the merchant chooses to expect me to spend in their store. If you have good products that I may want to browse some more and subsequently buy, I stay longer. If not, I get the hell out fairly quickly. Stuff tends to rez swiftly for me anyway, so I don't need long to form an opinion. For others, rezzing takes longer. Either way, the merchant in this case has reacted incorrectly and the banning makes him/her look a bit of a berk, frankly.

The only reason I would tp into a place and leave(besides crashing...) is that I don't like what I see...

What kind of person sits around with a stopwatch and times how long people stay at their store, anyway? Sounds like this merchant would be better off spending their time on other things, for instance, creating new products or helping customers.
In addition to mis-teleports, people who have done a lot of shopping in SL and who have good graphics cards can often tell in a very short time - sometimes seconds - whether or not they want to stick around at a store or not. If I TP to a store and the first thing that shows up in my face is freebies from Yadni's set for sale for $$$, I'm out of there. That's just one example of a clear indicator that I don't need for the rest of the store to rez to know I'm not interested in whatever else they're selling.

Im am reffering to people who are there not long enough for anything substantial to rez. I know how long it takes my textures and objects to rez as ive tested it on various plaforms and connection in additon to paying other residents to report on my stores performace including load times.

Are you sure the IM came from the person and not an object? It's possible they've been having issues with bots that TP in and leave immediately again, some do it over and over and over so it can be very annoying.
I don't think harassing this person is the way to go, even if they're being overly harsh. It's their land, they can ban whoever they like.

From: Viktoria Dovgal "camping" and similar in the parcel description will do that. That doenst make sense. How would Camping in a parcel name make someone leave a plot before anything has time to rez. Clarify.

Clarify. Bots sniffing for common types of camping devices to park on.
