Hi there i am still looking for a full size sim with full permissions for $300 a month AND 50/50 on profits, i am re-building Felonhall City (pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/16987775@N06/)

i cannot afford over $300, it is my ABSOLUTE maximum, but 50% of the profits (rentals, donations and dcs combat profits) will go to the owner,

Please kontact me in-world (Chaos Markstein)

edit: I wish to pay the first months rent on the last Tuesday of March, but wish to get everything arranged and sorted now.

Felon Hall was impressive and a great build I have to say... what your asking here though is quite a lot business wise...can you see it from an outsiders point of view?

Chaos, in all seriousness:

Do you have a business plan drawn up to present to anyone who may be interested in your proposal?
50% of the profits may be generous on your part, but if the total profit is $10000L's a month, that's not going to be much of an incentive to someone capable of putting out the money to purchase an entire sim ($5000L's...about what, $20-$25 US?)

Being able to demonstrate that you have something planned to make money for that sim owner may help generate some interest.

Just a thought...

From my personal experience, having known a few other region owners on the grid...

...there is massive money to be made in the 'themed combat play' regions.

For a while, at least.

- Themed combat stuff (easily $L 200k/mo if done right - but you gotta make it)
- Land rental (heavy infrastructure so maybe only $L 50k/mo profit after tier)
- Themed avatar accessories store (maybe $L 200k/mo again)

So there's almost half a million $L a month for you. Maybe 1500 USD/mo in the clear before taxes.

Now, I'd almost go on to say that's 18,000 USD/yr. BUT... I've never known an area that didn't sort of fizzle after a while.

There are some classic mistakes. Often the land rental is skipped entirely, the weapon stuff and the shops are doing great. But then it sorta fades.

Four months go by... six... eight... then... "Hey Desmond... I just bought a used RP sim, and it's losing money like crazy... any ideas? The old owner quit out... said it was too much drama and got busy RL, I just can't seem to get the regulars to pitch in, they say they never had to before..." Next thing you know: gone.

Seen it time and time and time and time and time again.

I wish I knew how to turn around such places myself. They can be white-hot for a while, and a rare few mature gracefully... but most don't.

Good luck man. I'm sure there is a way to make it work that is sustainable - talk to the rare few survivors I guess.

Chaos you already got the main ingredient I think, and that's the tenacity of a bulldog. Keep at it, and you'll prolly get it to fly - can't stop a man who just won't quit!

lol well thankfully my RL job involves working at home... on my PC (i'm a games designer) so i have lots and lots of time for SL, Felonhall stayed busy, but due to using a few 2 many prims and the place being to small i tried to rebuild it, then had a slight RL crisis, but thats all done now.

i never give up or quit and so far it has gotten my far in RL, and many close freinds of some of the surviving Dark-RP sims (missing mile, toxia, etc:NOT midian city!)

i just need 2 find a sim 2 build it all on now,lol

c'mon ppl someone must have a sim out there, even if its mainland

Save the money, or look for partners. You're asking someone else to fork out 1675 plus for your idea... someone who can pull the rug from under you for any reason at all and ban you from the land. If that is a private island, they also get to keep the build.

That is unwise. It may take you a few months, but you can do it. And then you won't have to share the money, other than with any partners.

"If you take no risks in life then life is no fun"
but seriously where am i going to find nearly $2000!? and because of VAT (im in the UK) i would have to pay $375 a month, it is cheaper to rent.

anyway i rented an island before and it worked out really well, it was due 2 a RL crisis and no internet access why i lost it, and by the time i sorted myself out it had allready been rented out.

it can be done, and it worked very well for me and the landlord, she was happy getting 50% of all the profits, and i was happy managing/rping/building the place.

this would be rev.3 of Felonhall (only i would proberly give it a more imagenitive name) and anyone here who remembers the first Felonhall (on the mainland) will know how much of a jump there was, the 3rd one would be a massive jump from the 2nd one, in profits and in size/prim usage

Get an American partner. Or maybe search a little harder. Try the land sales tab inworld.

As for getting the 2k.. that's what happens when you save your money. It'll come in time.

Quite candidly, that does not inspire confidence, and would discourage many people from letting you near their sims.

*coughs* Not to be a smartass, but you did give up on Felonhall the first time... and it brought you to being a "games designer" who can't scratch up 2k...?

Awe-inspiring. :p

?! where did u get that from? i have allways been a games designer (well for the last 4 years anyway) and have been programming games long before than, albiet basic ones

And i did not give up on Felonhall, i have no idea where you got that from. you need to check your facts before posting things like this

if you are talking about the very first one (the one on the mainland) it was moved to an island and everyone was made aware, there was only about 3 or 4 days down time, and i left landmarks and posters on the old sim for a long time saying it has moved.

You're basically looking for a partner willing to take on the majority of the financial risk in your venture without offering any proof that there will ever be significant profits to offset his or her initial expenses. All you offer up are the facts that you're unable to save money in RL, and that the last time you attempted this same thing you got sidetracked for two months and the sim owner ended up having to reclaim the island. Can you see why many land owners would not consider this a worthwhile business venture? It's like trying to rent an apartment, laughing "What me save money?" when asked for a security deposit, and the only reference you have is a previous landlord who had you evicted.

Do you still own the Felonhall sim? No. Does not matter if it was reclaimed or sold, you gave up on it because you couldn't afford it and/or got sidetracked. That does not coincide with "I never give up".

Oh, I totally forgot - you said yourself that you couldn't afford the monthly cost about what, no more than two months ago? So how come you expect the investor in your little venture to believe you can and will afford it now...?

(Yes, I know I am being mean now. It's that time of the month. :p )

I read in between the lines that there was an island owner you rented from who must have gotten left with unpaid rent and no contact from you, so he/she eventually cut his/her losses, cleared the island, and found a new tenant.

The two months comes from observation that it's been about that long since we've seen a Felonhall post.

I think your last Felonhall looked very good But I also think it would be practical to aim for 2 sims, to start out with.
