Tier charge increases...

Has anyone else heard rumours that tiers are to be increased next year...
(maybe a few members of the Lindens head team need to be visited by ghosts of christmases past, present and future-in-openlife ) )

Hi Maelstrom, I believe there was a thread in the last few days questioning this same thing, didn't follow it, but you will prob find it at the bottom of the page or perhaps page 2...I believe it was titled something about a nasty rumor

No change expected on mainland tier.
Openspace or void sims will get a big revamp including different levels of usage. The short version is 67% increase in price for Openspace sims.
Private island estates have not been mentioned at all. One can assume no increase in price at this point.

The problem with rumours is that they frequesntly have some grain of truth... myself the way things are Id believe an increase was forthcoming before a decrease. Fortunately I've sold my land albeit it at a loss and am simply waiting for openlife to make more regions available..if oppenlife build on what they've done so far I see the place as being far more fun to build in...cheaper, megaprims up to 100 metres freely avaialable, can be hollowed more too (and more of them to a region). All the things lindens should be doing...all things I've suggested time and again.

With this and the fact that openlife is a lot cheaper while lindens have become too expensive...

I think lindens need to buck up their ideas and take another look at customer care...

Jack has been asked this question repeatedly during his office hours. His answer has been consistent so far:

OpenSpaces are the only tier proces changing. There are no plans to change either mainland tier or the tier on Private Estates outside of OpenSpaces. The OpenSpace changes have been well-documented for a while now.

and i suppose that means no much needed price decrease either....

Grandfathered status is most at risk but I really can't see Linden Lab being iditotic enough to rock the boat even more after the openspace fiasco.

A lot of the rumours stem from large land holders selling their class 4 sims.

but didnt the openspace fiasco follow the v.a.t fiasco ??

Why ask a question if you are not going to listen to the answers? It seems to me that you sold off land for no reason and now want to perpetuate the rumor that all tier will increase so that maybe you feel a little more justified in making a rash decision.

Go join openlife if you wish. Stay here and try to get someone else's land at a bargin price if you want. No matter what you do, nothing will change the fact that next years price breakdown has been set and it does not include increases for any aspect but openspace sims.

I sold my land because ithe cost was crippling me.... hardly a rash decision... or are you being 'stroppy' because I cracked a funny about your sickly pronouncements in another thread...

Expect LL to deny, evade or ignore ANY questions about future tier changes until they officially announce the change. Doing otherwise is just silly.

yes but its fun to speculate...especially as my 'rash' decision to sell means I dont pay tier charges any more

I did but having membership allows me to keep 312 sqm 'free' of charge if you remember - although its up for sale too now seeing as its not a lot of use on its own... lindens really do need to look at their tier pricing policies..... I cant be the only one who sold up because prices are excessive...

How are the tier prices more excessive now than when you first bought mainland? They have been stable for as long as I can remember. Or are you saying you were affected by the OS too? That I can understand, truly but as I said in the other mainland tier thread, if LL are keeping mum about price increases then *nobody* else has better info available.

well on top of v.a.t the pound has tumbled in value against the dollar thus causing my tier to soar...'that's not lindens fault ' you may respond... Id reply Lindens have an office in the uk and charged v.a.t. as a result of their european presence...but those of us in england etc. still have to pay our tiers in dollars...

some might ask whats the point of the european office if we still have to pay american prices in american currency...
