Fortunately I've sold my land albeit it at a loss and am simply waiting for openlife to make more regions available..if oppenlife build on what they've done so far I see the place as being far more fun to build in...cheaper, megaprims up to 100 metres freely avaialable, can be hollowed more too (and more of them to a region). All the things lindens should be doing...all things I've suggested time and again.

I recently sold two parcels at a loss to bring down my tier and downgraded my alt from Premium to Basic. I got a questionnaire when my alt downgraded regarding "What could we have done to make SL a better experience for you." I blasted them with the tier jump issue and that imo it is preventing more people from purchasing mainland.

Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to purchase an OS sim.

Wow, way to prejudge.
No I would not say that at all, I never said it through the OS issue ( actually didn't say much) and I never said anything through the VAT issue either. I am damn certain your issues are not with me.

I actually had a lot of empathy for people over the VAT issue, LL should have decided from day one how to handle VAT correctly as many other companies have had to when operating in Europe.

However, in my book anyone who starts a sentence with "People like you.." has automatically lost whatever empathy I had for them.

luckily a friend is letting me build on her os region... there are no available regions at the moment but I shall look very hard at buying one because I think its the place for people who enjoy building to be...its nice being able to use sizes up to 100 metres without worrying about possible consequences of working with megaprims...

if the prices Im hearing are correct from people who own os regions I shall be definately in the queue when more become available.... and with more prims available per region I hope a more polished look to the place may become the norm as more prims mean more detail....

the stupid thing is lindens should be looking at emulating a place which is going to clearly become a major competitor instead there are rumours of tier increases.

We have all these new staff and non of them seems to be able to quickly apply a few changes which might actually encourage customers and reward customer loyalty.

trying to post a serious thread to get a response like that no wonder I replied the way I did...

Actually I posted in the thread - not in reply to your post at all.
So because the thread had been answered and I made a joke you prejudged me as a person who had no empthy for VAT? Wow what a leap of assumption to make and way to show no sense of humour at all.

Serious thread? Very much an agenda thread imo. Why not be honest and state the thread title as:

"LL screwed me over VAT on mainland and I am still sore over it?"

That might have given me a hint ya know.

So what was the point of you post if you werent replying to someone ? And all your post suggested to me was sarcasm and I have a very good sense of humour - if something is actually funny.

And how is asking if anyone else heard a rumour setting an agenda... whats your agenda in attacking my posts and rubbishing me ?

As for the v.a.t business I owned land for some considerable time after lindens begun to levy v.a.t - of course if you think its accetable to change fees three days before someones payment is due without any prior warning or leeway given to sell land fair enough...maybe you wont be complaining if lindens do suddenly hike up the tiers without warning...

am I the one with the agenda or are you ?

My agenda was to simply have a bit of fun in an already answered thread.
This is no different to what many of us do all the time on the forums.
You seem to have the big chip on your shoulder and started with the sarcasm in direct response to my quote.
Also I suggest you read my post again for where I stand on the vat issue as you seem to have missed that.
I have not rubbished you at all. You seem to be seeing things that are not there.
Deal with your issues, don't take them out on me.

Mr Jack Linden was doing a tour of Infohubs the other week and ran into Mr Prokofy Neva. Mr Neva in his own inimitable way asked Mr Linden out about mainland tier pricing. Mr Linden said no increases. Is a log of the conversation on Mr Nevas blog.

Mr Linden also got a knighthood from the Peoples Parliament for his services to the peasantry in the mainland adwars. So he now has to be referred to as Sir Jack by us mainland peasants and be beloved by all. /me curtsies =) Thats in the log as well.

Frankly, I think tier is likely to go way down in the coming year to year and a half.

I have three reasons for thinking this.

1. Competition. Although they are far behind SL, OpenSim based competitors have opened shop and are beginning to run serious businesses. People like the OP are starting to move to the new grids, and others are keeping an eye on them.

2. LL is concentrating on business customers. That's where they think their revenue is eventually going to come from. They've already said they don't care about Premium memberships...that they aren't a significant part of their business model. Perhaps they don't care much about tier payments from small landholders, either. Certainly, monthly fees for private islands are a much larger part of their revenue stream, based simply on the relative land area vs. mainland, and the higher monthly charge.

3. Desmond thinks so. :)

Yet another "OpenLife is better and I am moving" troll thread.

Nothing else to see really.

He got off his chest what he really wanted to say, which was basically: 'I am getting 45k prims in a sim and cheaper prices than LL woo hoo screw the rest of you suckers im out! Oh yeah, come join too because its dead there'.
