Speaking as an Independant that tends to lean liberal..... Both sides have their share of failings when it comes to fact-checking.

Its not a Democrat or Republican issue: Its a beltway issue ;)

It is now against the law to be annoying on the internet.

"It's no joke. Last Thursday, President Bush signed into law a prohibition on posting annoying Web messages or sending annoying e-mail messages without disclosing your true identity."

lol that crazy George Bush character just cracks me up. Is like he is living in some bizarre slapstick sitcom and each week we tune into find out what crazy antics he is going to get into that week.

Be a shame when he gets cancelled.

Actually, Arlen Specter should be the one to point and laugh at on this one. He put it into a bill that was pretty much necessary for Congress to pass, so there was no way to knock it down. That's the biggest problem, all the tack on Pork Barrell nonsense. They all get a big Middle Finger from from me.

How will this ever , even remotely, stand up to its first challenge on the 1st amendment grounds?

He'll come up with some lame-ass transparent tie-in to national security, of course. That will let him get around those damned courts and oversight committees to do whatever the hell he wants!

It's been a year, are there any cases of it being enforced?

Nope, just can't agree with you there... He's simply not entertaining, and the number of times he's made me laugh it's only because I prefer laughing to crying and I had to do one or the other.

Problem is they just replace the lead actor, the supporting cast keeps using the same old script, so very little changes.

Now wait ...

Lets be real here. Bush signed it, but Congress passed it. Which is Democrat controlled (both houses).

So lets give credit where loony credit is due.

When you have such a slim majority its hard to say you 'control' congress to the effect the republicans had when they had filibuster proof majorities.

Not saying the dems couldnt be doing a better job but lets not exagerate the dems 'control'

In California it is illegal to harm a butterfly.

In Oregon it is illegal to take a bath unless you are covered from neck to ankle.

In Pennsylvania if a motorest passes by a horse and the horse becomes skittish, the motorest is required, by law, to pull their viehicle to the side. If the horse still appears skittish, the motorest is required, by law, to disassemble their vehicle, and hide the pieces in the brush until the horse passes.

Obviously, stupid laws have always existed. One more will only add to the pile of laws ignored by those with half a brain (which excludes Bush).

((Examples given are actual laws in those states, still on the books today.))

^ What he said x 100000000000. Get rid of one party and the replacement is the same people with different names. Maybe they change their shirts and ties. Democrats are more prone to jackets with patches on the sleeves and Republicans go with pinstripes. That's the major difference as far as I can tell on a practical, results-oriented analysis. The yell about different things and accomplish the same amount of nothing.

Bleah. I'm moving to a cabin on some mountaintop in Idaho. I hear there's a nice one on Ruby Ridge that's been for sale for a while.

DVR - Digital Video Recording. I kid, I do not know what exactly the DVR stands for, but that is how I think of it since it is a digital recorder. I have one, but the tv died.

The President can not push through a Law. Congress makes the laws, puts them into bills, votes on them, and then sends them to the President ,who can sign the ENTIRE bill or veto it. If he Vetoes, it goes back to Congress, and they can either wework it, or vote on the veto. If 2/3 of Congress vetoes the veto, the bill becomes law, regardless of what the President thinks. I believe this has to be done in 10 days.

In this case the Law in question was Sponsored by Sen Arlen Specter R-PA, and it was attached to a Justice Department funding bill, that included domestic violence issues I believe, so vetoing the bill would not have been a good political move. Presidents have for years been asking for a Line Item Veto, but congress refusues to allow it so far.

I know it's hip to point and laugh at GW for every stupid thing that comes out of Washington, especially from our foreign friends who only see CNN and Fox, and understandably have no idea to the innerworkings of our Government, but in Washington the entire fish stinks, not just the head.

That's what gets me -- the fact that they can attach all sorts of whack-ass "riders" on bills.
