I hope this does not become an Emerald user trend...

I love Emerald to death, but yes, I could do without the paranoia stuff.
I don't care WHO looks at me, doesn't matter what I am doing, as long as they just look. I don't wanna hear from them about what I'm doing at the moment, unless it's like, "missed a texture," or "there's a trick to doing that kind of building, wanna learn it?"

I'm pretty sure you can disable the feature that reveals your lookat target. Somewhere in Edit/Preferences, under the Emerald tab, there's an option to uncheck 'broadcast viewer info' or some such.

Briana, that is the funniest thing I've read here for weeks!
Tell her you're a pathological peeping Tom.

I had this happen once at Burning Life. Funny thing was, I was two sims away from the person at the time, and focused on my own parcel.
Buggy, much?

I want people to look at me, but I'm vain that way.
If the guy doesn't want to be looked at, he should fire up a standalone OS-grid sim on his own machine, then he can be not-looked-at to his heart's content.

X: Please stop looking at me. Y: I'm sorry, but I can't take my eyes off you. You are so absolutely wonderfully dysmorphic. Sort of King's new clothes. Maybe they will take it a compliment. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_dysmorphic_disorderX: Please stop looking at me. Y: I'm sorry, but I'm trying to work out why you have such a huge ARC number. You're lagging us all biotch! X: Please stop looking at me. Y: I don't want to, but there's a crowd of people looking over my shoulder in RL and discussing how butt ugly you are.

The thing is, i just clicked into the random screen area to adjust my view of the large room i was in before i went afk. I never meant to look at her.
Even funnier is that i could just uncheck "broadcast lookat", and not let anyone know where i am looking, but i am noticing that Emerald users are often more likely to strike up a conversation with you if they know you are cam perving them.

I've known some pretty bad fights to start in pubs with the words, "You looking at me? huh?" Or, even worse, "You was looking at my fellah!".
Now, if Emerald ever introduce a beer-spilling feature, we're in deep trouble.

From: Briana Dawson This just happened to me: Wait for them switch back to the default unfocused camera and then just talk in chat which will cause their "look at" to lock on to you momentarily and then you're free to rant back .

This is getting so hilarious..the paranoia caused by so many tools and so much info and the sheer preciousness of some people. Aren't we all here to look, be looked at? Hullo--that's why we bother having avatars at all.
Lately, I find myself being ultra-careful when camming about at home, in case I accidentally click into a neighbours home and they think I'm perving. So I've gotten a complex over the fact that someone *may* get a complex if they see my crosshairs in their house. Ack...turning the rotten thing off.
