The answer to that question is in the link above titled 'GUIDELINES - Please read before posting.' I think it's been a while since some of the posters here read this.

Here's a second question- How many of the responses to this post will adhere to those guidelines?

Rime
Oh, come on. If we followed those rules this would be a very quiet place :-) What's the point of your question, by the way? Are you by any chance a troll? Not that there's anything wrong with that! Oops, I think I violated almost all of the guidelines... Jackie

Seriously, we're all volunteers here who spend many hours each week out of our lives trying to help other people, in case you hadn't noticed.

and while we're at it - I would like to remind everybody about these guidelines:

From: someone
1. You shall have no other Gods but me.
2. You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
3. You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
4. You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
5. Respect your father and mother.
6. You must not kill.
7. You must not commit adultery.
8. You must not steal.
9. You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.
10.You must not be envious of your neighbour's goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.

The Guidelines (and the ToS) are so ambiguous and subject to differential interpretation that the answer to your question is "however you want to, up until the point where a Linden (not a resident moderator - they only have powers over threads, as I understand it) sends you an ambiguous email which probably confuses you as to whether you have been warned or banned". After that it depends on how seriously you take the warning, and whether you actually notice that you have been banned.

As an example of ambiguity, nauseating pictures of live cats with misspelled captions demonstrating juvenile humour are OK, whereas thought-provoking photos of dead cats which question our existence and morality are not acceptable.

Pep (Oh, and if you use alts you can probably behave as you like for even longer)

Guidelines for Phil and I

* A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
* A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
* A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I wish somebody would program Windows Vista with those rules. It hurts me. :(

If you think your post might be over-reactive, or that it might fall into one of these definitions, please reconsider posting.

Uhm...over-reactive?

See this thread: /118/67/318538/1.html

A guy posts a survey question. I post some humor. You over react. The OP laughs with me - he and I have a friendly exchange. And you leave the thread declaring I am on ignore.

Over-reactive?

How often though do the informative, useful discussions get derailed into pathetic, personal attacks? Just look at the last few posts on any of the major topics and ask how relevant they are to the main theme. There are a lot of contentious issues under discussion right now and it seems the mood of the community is volatile.

Huh?

The mood of the community is volatile?

I can't see this at all.

Well, there are quite a few here, like the OP, that seem to make *assumptions* and take things way tooooooo personal and then get their panties in a bunch really quickly.

Considering so many of us prefer a "live and let live" attitude IN SL, I am so often amazed at how many want to make folks conform here in the forums.

Does anyone have a nauseating picture of a live cat with a misspelled caption to do with trolling?

A little jesting, joking, teasing is good.

lolwut?

I did some "jesting, joking" and the person i was doing with thought it was funny. But yet you came into the thread and publicly declared that you were putting me on ignore for my "inane" antics or something.

Am I missing something, or are you just making it personal with me?

Though I open myself up to criticism for not following my own suggestion...

Apparently we are analyzing peoples posts so I leave you with this:

Show me the love? Show me the compassion? Show me the help? Show me the humor?

Rime
Ummm - that link gives me "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms."
