VWR-11692 Freeze ups for mac users

Some mac users have been suffering from freezes that progressively get worse and worse until a clear cache temporarily fixes the problem.
Specifically the screen freezes and the viewer won't accept any inputs until it unfreezes. So, for example, if you're walking your screen freezes but your avatar keeps moving until the screen unfreezes. The virtual world carries on without you but you can't see or effect what's happening. To start with the freezes are short and infrequent but as you continue they last longer and happen more often. Swinging the camera around seems to set them off and some people think that being in a crowded place makes it worse. For me this is so bad on the official viewer that I'm using the Cool Viewer which doesn't completely fix the problem but at least it's useable. Initially it was thought that Apple's new OS Leopard had fixed the problem but now there is a suspicion it hasn't. For me I'm still using the old OS Tiger and am not too keen on paying a great deal of cash for a new OS just to fix the freeze ups I have in SL. If this is effecting you please vote! so long as you remove the ones that are no longer relevant: Palletized textures are gone in the RC "Release Candidate viewers are optional viewers that contain the latest bug fixes and/or soon-to-be-released new features." I'd say leave them in until they hit production level, new people aren't being directed to the RC client (which can contain new errors as well). _____________________
