Doesn't matter. LL is too cheap to lay down any $$ at all for advertising. They think news stories and the occasional press release will do the job.

For a while, they were right.

Bruce Campbell would also be good.

I always went with the attitude that the newbie guy, who just landed 24 hours ago, still in newbie gear, at the info hub.... is George Clooney.

SL is very exciting this way. :)

And now that I have him in a good shape, and a good skin, and good clothes, and a pretty piece of land, with a nice home....and gave him a ton of advice on exploring and romance and business.....I think he is ready to be "Spokesperson." Matthew McCaughney and Harry Connick Jr., and Bruce Springsteen and Bono, are ready as well.

Hah! That is one very awesome way to keep SL exciting! Love it!
And I'll add all your suggestions to the list. =D

I think this late in the hype cycle, the Philip and Kapor following types are already here. As are the drama tabloid followers. To attract the more mainstream media watchers, we need someone they can relate to and respect.

Sooo who do you want? ( think who would our mothers repect enough to try out sl)

At the moment, I think I have a single, extremely attractive, young Bill Gates-type on my hands. Just haven't pinpointed it yet.....but it will come to me. He picked up the building/scripting thing the first 48 hours. Amazing. I'll be sure to groom him, in a variety of aspects.....so that you won't be disappointed. :)

One for the image LL wants to pretend SL is like... maybe the guy who plays the PC in the Apple commercials?

Another for what SL is really like... Amy Winehouse maybe?
I can't believe he's come up twice. See Qie's post, #10, Patasha!

As for what SL is really like ... Max Raabe.

Argent, that person would scare me Mums away. =P

Rachael Ray! Yes, near the top of the list I think.

I should start a new thread, but this fits into this conversation. Once we have commercial, info papers and such in place, where or who do we target?

My best idea is leaving signage and information( with spokespersons happy face) in craft and hobbie shops.
The same idea follows into TV advertising, concentrating on hobby and "Do It Yourself" sorts of programming. Adverting on G4(local geeky gamer prgrammng) may be a waste, as most viewers already know about SL.

Sooo.. Once we get awesome spokespeople under contract, where and how do we reach the people who will enjoy what SL has to offer?

Also keep spokespeople suggestion coming, top picks will get into the forum pole.=D

Wow, is that really 4 for Hodgman?
The pole will be interesting! I am wondering if this forum is skewed towards geek over chic. Or perhaps all savvy internetz users lean like this.

I kinda think the people Hodgman can attract are already aware of SL. I am aiming for the people who are more mainstream media influenced.
