In the last two weeks, there have been about 150 robots rezzing on the deck of my skybox, then immediately going to a club that is nearby. They arrive in groups of about 10 and this happens about 3 times a day. If I am online I stand there and eject & ban them but there are a lot of them. I sent a message to the club's owner to stop this practice-no response from him. I don't want to put up ban lines-hate that-and maybe that wouldn't even help. I am not too savvy on security systems so here is my question....what is the best way to prevent these robots from landing on my deck? Thanks.

Make the deck phantom, grab some popcorn and watch the swarms of bots fall flailing toward the ground. Oooh and take pics

Hi Kavella, A Security orb is the way to go, allowing access to you and your friends only. They are really very easy (and inexpensive), IM me in-world if you need help finding and installing one.

I don't want to put up ban lines-hate that-and maybe that wouldn't even help. It wouldn't unless your platform was very, very low...general ban lines only extend to 50m. _____________________

First how do you know these are robots and not shils? am in several clubs where I serve as a shil. I get the teleport notice or the IM that says "come on over party..." and often I obey it. I get to be in a group of other avatarim, which on Second Life which is mostly empty, is a treat for a gregarious sort. If the requests are going out to groups, than you could easily have clumps of real players arriving.
They arrive. They depart, so I don't see why this should be a problem. Why not just treat passers-through hospitably? Expand your porch to handle the traffic and do some people watching. Some kind of psychological property marker such as a low fence or gate between your property and the club might also make sure the shils go where they intend to and don't get side tracked. If you feel more hospitable which you clearly don't, a vending machine like my hon-ey-matic or a rain barrel might be a nice addition, or a bell they can ring or some other attraction so they hang around a bit on your porch. I'd probably set up some kind of attraction on my porch if I were lucky enough to live "on the road." By the way, my own property in Hartley is set up to be hospitable to travelers. Why treat innocent avies like garbage? |

They arrive. They depart, so I don't see why this should be a problem. Maybe the OP has the skybox there so she can build, hang out, etc., without interruption? To have some semblance of privacy? The arrival of 150 avatars, whether bots or not, certainly puts a stop to that. Why not just treat passers-through hospitably? Or, hey! Why doesn't the club owner just tp them into the actual club? You know, I leave my land open for visitors with nice places to sit/cuddle and a 7Seas fishing game all set up, but if they started arriving at my skybox, I'd be pretty damn irritated. Well, I would if I didn't have the security orb to send them away... _____________________

If they are going to this nearby club, why are they arriving on someone's private parcel in the first place? A security system might work but if they are just arriving and immediately leaving then the system may not have any effect since it will need time to sense the intruders and give a warning before actually attacking them.
I like the idea of making the deck phantom and sitting back with the popcorn though ![]() |

You could also build a prim phone booth around the target point and see how many avatars you could pack in it.

If you happen to have da powah: freeze them all in place! His bots basically become useless. They won't reach the owners' club when you do, his visitorcount won't go up, his search ranking won't improve, and will probably even drop because he lacks quality to begin with, his bots prove as much.
It will clutter your skybox for a while though, but this is basically the best legal counter-harrassment allowed ![]() |

Did the neighbor pass out a lm for your skybox? Or perhaps their "set point" in their land is actually your skybox and not their land?

Damage enable your parcel and open a target range. See how many bots make it off the plot alive.

Why treat innocent avies like garbage? You know that is all fine and dandy for YOU. However, some of us that don't care to have 150 or non-invited guests to show up for me would be pretty darn irritating. For over a year I used to live on aprivate sim. Didn't have a security orb shoot I didn't even have to "lock" my house up. Them came along a neighbor purchased land and set up camping spots for their business. The bots and avies came in droves. I eventually had to purchase a security orb. The rest of the residents complained so much, the business owner eventually moved to another location and she too got tired of hassling with the bots. My question is why don't the club have them land on her property. It sounds like to me that the club owner has no cosideration whatsoever for the other residents. AND btw what is a shil? _____________________

You could try dropping him a notecard pointing out the invasion and requesting the landing point to be changed to his own land asap. -- Aes |

I love this forum. EVERY reply is entertaining and informative-even negative comments.
The phantom deck would be a great idea except my deck is part of a mega prim and hence I could not use my other rooms. Roland, I may take you up on your generous offer. Honeybee, may I re-route all of them to your house? As for moving my skybox up, I would do that except now I would have a lot of space junk to view. My skybox has been at a variety of altitudes in order to get a clear view. I have done my homework, Iyoba, and these are robots and not shills. Without going into detail, I have proof they are robots. And your last sentence is now assuming I treat avies like garbage. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. I am a gracious hostess to all strangers and love to chat people up-and especially newbies-love to offer my help (even have a newbie pack I give out) Oh and let's not forget the cute newbie girl who was so enchanting-I gave her $500L. But, Iyoba, I may pop over to your house for a visit-would love to see your garden. ![]() The phone booth idea-EXCELLENT! Freezing-even better if I knew how to have 'da powah'. Finally, my deck is personal space - a lovely place to listen to my music, have conversations w/friends and I use it a lot. I do take exeption to 10 ROBOTS appearing right next to me or my friends. Thanks all for your ideas. |

i think anybody on damaged enabled land is a legal target to kill, orbit no but shoot yes I disagree. I've been on parcels - shopping, usually - that I had no idea were damaged-enabled until some time after I arrived. And, unless you're getting a notecard or some such notification that says by staying, you agree to be targeted, I don't think mere presence implies consent to participate. _____________________

You do know that you can go up to approximately 4000m on the 1.2x viewers (or appropriately patched lower version 3rd party clients), right? _____________________
