Oh yes, Twitter has a following among SL users, including me and Selenalore. Just look for the hashtags "#secondlife " and "#insl" to find Second Life-related items. (I wrote both those descriptions for wthashtag.com.)

Those who don't find Twitter to their taste might give Friendfeed a try. If people respond to a Friendfeed message, the replies appear with the message, in order as they are made, in real time. You can create searches for various terms and conditions and save the searches, creates public or private groups, and other neat stuff.

There are third party clients for Twitter that might suit those who don't like the Twitter web site's approach to handling tweets. Here are some:

popular enough, that the hashtag #SecondLife is worth watching.


Good to remember also, that LL uses Twitter, and that's the only way you can get semi-current information on grid status issues. @SLGridStatus for that.


Ooo..didn't know they had an account for that, just got the @SecondLife @SLurl accounts :D

Agreed!

I dont care if someone in RL just got a cup of coffee, sneezed, woke up or whatever.

I'll show interest in Twitter when I see someone mention they cured cancer or world hunger or discovered life on another planet.

twitter, hmm, i don't understand why it's so hyped.. it's not special in any means, it's no technological innovative, it's just a chat kind of system, like many others, only not live.

I don't use twitter, and businesses should stop using it, it's annoying.
It's rss on steriods to them.. i disagree..

if you need "community/profiling" per se, use a mailinglist, or a forum.
Way better, and more readable/usable.

ditch twitter, get back to the proven basics (fast, reliable, and stable)..

I don't use it, never will.. :p and yes, i don't use facebook either, and all those other hyped profile based stuff... :D

I guess it's just like how most ppl who are not in SL, they hv no idea why we are all so excited about it, and they would sneer and laugh and find it pointless.

Somehow, anything can be as pointless or as useful as we make it.

There must be some reason as to why something gets more n more popular.
