Whoever programs shoes and feet, I would like to stick my RL foot in their RL butt.

You could just avoid feet altogether. I hear floating metallic balls are all the rage in avatar design these days. *whistles*

My robotic utilitarian alt. is a plain black ball that only responds in chat with pre-programmed gestures I've fed into it! But it never does much, it rarely logs in, it's there for permissions testing and to sit on my groups as a safety net.

And before you buy a tight skirt and go off on that...

Tight skirts look better with a size zero butt.

I keep a copy of my current shape with a zero butt to make it easier to change.

Yes being a bigger woman, a lot of the miniskirts disappear. like my butt swallowed them.
I am not about to give up my butt though!

I don't mind the system skirts. A girl should have a booty. :)

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

What we need is for J's to come out with a pair of their shoes that is essentially a realistic bare foot with the realistic toes they do. I keep going back but no dice so far :(

If they did that then going bare foot would be an entirely different proposition to what it is today.
It would especially excite the foot fetish people big time I would imagine. << >> Not that I would know anything about that .
What I want out of J's is for a scripter to team up with that person and figure out a way to set the coloring on one pair of toes and then export that setting and import it to another pair of toes. I am absolutely horrid at that type of fine tuning and always have to go to friends for help.

I tried to make mine proportinal to my avatar's height, 5'9", and thought I made the feet a 10 or 11 USA size women's which is about normal.

in RL 10-11 would be gargantuan for a woman, regardless of heighth!

That should be very easy to do too though obviously it depends on who they have doing their scripting.
In fact the whole colouring procedure seems overly cumbersome to me. The color changer for the Xcite products is quicker and easier better as I recall. Though it has been a long while since I wore an Xcite body part.

The programming is only needed because you need to tint them to your skin color, without that the fleshy parts would look odd.
Other than that the shoes are fabulous because you get toes that look like real toes poking out of them.

I talked to the creator once - suggesting what I wished for. It sounded like the creator scripted it themself, commenting to me that they would not know how to do what I wanted as he/she was not a scripter.

So, I'm guessing the creator learned enough scripting to accomplish the toe color change, but doesn't know enough scripting to enhance the process. Not even sure if they would be open to paying a scripter to do the enhancement.

Ironic really, I could do the scripting I am sure but my artistry with scultpies leaves a lot to be desired, otherwise I would just make what I wanted too - a plain set of bare feet that look real.

size 10 feet are pretty normal for your height ann (at least seems to be normal for the women I have known in my lifetime)

I am a shorty, 5'2 and small feet (my RL feet pretty much match SL size 0 feet LOL)
(size 4.5 or 5 womens US sizes) or boys approx size 3ish...

yep.. small hehe

Yes..
OK the avatars have horrendous feet, that is no secret.
But with shoes, what gives with some of them being expensive and no modify?
I bought some the other day that ran probably 2-300 linden, and of course they look stupid like they don't even cover my feet.
Is there a certain size that the avatars fet have to be in order for most if not all shoes to work right?
I tried to make mine proportinal to my avatar's height, 5'9", and thought I made the feet a 10 or 11 USA size women's which is about normal.
Are most shoes designed for tiny feet or something?
Why are SL shoes in general a pain in the ass?
AND - are bases interchangeable?

This is aggrivating as hell, please help.

$300L ($1US) is expensive? You obviously haven't spent much time shoe shopping, even as a mere male I could tell you that's cheap.

Why size zero when the ankles look horrible?
12-11-2008 03:22
What I don't understand at all is why the shoe makers of SL decided on size 0 as the universal size, when this causes the lumpen ankle effect. If you increase the size of the avatar feet to 20 on the slider - which isn't huge by any means - then you lose that lump and get beautifully smooth feet and ankles.

It seems just daft that nearly every shoe maker and clothes maker is making leg warmers to cover up the defect, when making the shoe size itself 20 as standard wouldovercome the problem.

I'd like to see more shoe makers offering a size 20 shoe for those of us who can live with slightly bigger feet if it means we get smooth ankles. I can see that offering a lot of sizes isn't necessarily possible, but offering two? Should be doable, surely?

Actually, I think males have it worse than females for SL shoes. The choices are just so limited, and there is so much utter crap that it's all to easy for a male avatar's shoe budget to exceed that of a females and *still* end up unshod. (There are a couple darlings of the male fashion blogs that sell shoes I wouldn't inflict on my worst enemy.)

A plug for Calveen Klein's store: it sells mod perm male shoes. Not every possible style, but if you need passable dress shoes that you can actually fit to your feet, I honestly know of no other alternative short of becoming one's own cobbler (to which I've resorted out of desperation in the past).

Not sure about the sculpted feet thing. I played around a while back with prim toes, and it's difficult enough to match skin color in a range of lighting conditions, even when there's a convenient joint there to justify a different shade. If a similar color shift showed around the ankle, it would be Some Kind of Ugly.

I'd expect much the same problem with hybrid prim and system shoes, unless the designer creates their own shape discontinuity to justify the color shift between prim and avatar surface. But the idea is very practical. I'm thinking just a prim sole and well-executed texture shoes might look good and solve a ton of problems. If I can remember when I get back in-world, I'll try to find FD's shoes--texture shoes are scarce in my Inventory.

I think shoe designers just use size 0 because it would be a serious pain in the behind to make all those different sizes, and take up vast amounts of space in a shop. Regarding mod/no mod; most shoes have lots of differently sized prims, with some prims shrunk down to the minimal size. Even if the shoes are mod, you can't shrink the shoe any more than what the smallest sized prim will allow, if that makes sense.

But if they are at least modify okay, you can use a tool like the KKF Resizer to make it smaller beyond the minimal size :-)

http://uncensored.xstreetsl.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&file=item&ItemID=915718

Works really well and safed me already from throwing away some shoes and other modable, but officially not shrinkable stuff.

I make a lot of long dresses with system skirts. The trick is to bring the skirt width down to 0, no bustle, no poof etc... and close it all up. You get a choice of one silhouette, a sheath, but it's a nice modern silhouette, and yes, my avi has a "skirt butt" (also called a shelf or a portable sofa). She also has a paunch, but so do lots of real life ladies. What I like ahout the system skirt gowns I make is that they look like a real long dress (the kind I'd pick out for a "formal wear optional" party or a semi-formal) I'd buy in a store for myself, rather than a 19th century crinoline or princess gown or wedding dress.

If I want alternative silhouttes, I make tube dresses of various types. Sometimes my avi looks like she's wearing a barrel. Other times, the shoulder pads are huge. Someone called her a burrito. It would be nice to have more system options, but one makes due.

As for shoes, system shoes are fun to make and very practical. What is wrong with a pair of lovely ballet flats or loafers or oxfords. Avatarot dance all the time and such shoes are perfect for the dance floor, formal but practical and definitely attractive.

And my avi who has a heavily modified original city chic skin, has toes. The nails are not painted, but I noticed she has toes.
