I've done another update of my "LL Mainland Continents" & "Sansara & Heterocera Atoll" maps. The in-world versions of these maps are server based (via Sasun Steinbeck's Kiosk.net--go buy it), and if you own one, it will update automatically.

"LL Mainland Continents" Changes:
Entire map redone using Terrain layer for improved appearance.
Corsica extended to near completion.
Beginings of new Gaeta continent added.

"Sansara & Heterocera Atoll" Changes:
LL Rental Sims added
Bay City "Under Construction" zone added.
LL Estate Services sims added north of Linden Village.
NCI InfoNode markers added to Warmouth & Braunworth InfoHubs.

hey, it seems that the Gaeta continent may have been a test of some sort. I think this because it has been removed from the grid, and because of the phenomenally horrible terraforming and tileset use for the few days it was up. Given LL's current direction towards focusing on improving mainland, I don't think they'd drop something like that :)

Gaeta still shows on the map, but is "greyed out". You can't teleport there, but it is visible. I plan to keep an eye on Gaeta, and delete it from my maps if LL removes it. But until it is removed or relocated, I'm assuming it is intended to open when land demand permits. I expect LL to continue to add more mainland--and improve existing mainland. Both are necessary to maintain the income from LL's mainland "Estate".

Oh--and a question for map users: Would the "Sansara & Heterocera Atoll" map be better using the Terrain layer (without the objects), or does it look better/provide more information using the default Objects layer?

Wonderful maps! I live and work on Heterocera, so it's lovely to see stuff like the map of the SLRR, the Infohubs, etc. My vote is to keep them on the maps.

So did the Lindens get into rentals sims now or is that a resident that created LL rental sims?

Great work Carl - and I think it is better to show the Objects layer.

Is there any way you could add a "You are here" function? That indicated the sim where your vendor was set up?

Carl has set up a vendor Honey - I have set one up at my land at Crameri and another at Alcis. (LM in my profile picks.)

The maps are pretty cool. Good job.

I think the object layer does add value even though you pretty much can't make anything out (other than Texas). I imagine it adds extra work for you, though, since you don't want to let it get too far out of date.

Not to add even more work but I'd love to see a map like this that included the roads. Perhaps show built vs. not-built-yet roads in different colors.

I'm sorry I was not clear. What I meant by the "object" layer was the stuff that is shown on the LL maps where people have houses, malls, skyboxes, etc. I would continue to show my layers like the InfoHubs, Points of Interest, Train Tracks, etc.

Those are six sims reserved for LL to rents out for special purposes.

That's an excellent idea. I've considered it, but it's a lot of work to trace the existing road network in Illustrator. If I move to a terrain-layer based, map, I will definately do that, though.

Since the maps are based on Sasun Steinbeck's Kiosk.net system, and my scripting ability is limited to minor mods of existing scripts, I'd say "not possible". Sorry.

I spotted this today in Jack Linden's concierge office. Not the "names" of the two unnamed continents.

I love that map. I wish there was a way to get a copy of it to add to the wall where I hang my favorite map from Carl.

Carl, I always love your maps. Keep up the great work. It is appreciated!

I wish we could get the name of the #4 continent settled once and for all.

Me too. Blue coral coast line and LL landscaped sea bottoms. Home sweet home :)

I sooo love these maps Carl - you do an excellent job:)

Made me think that if we have an SL cartographer now - perhaps we should have an SL historian too to capture the important historical info that is in danger of being lost. As each oldie disappears that will get worse too.

Just my musings. *humms to self*

Ask Jack Linden? It's in his office in Linden Estate Services
