Khamon posted a link on another forum to a story on The Times about marketing and Second Life. http://technology.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/tech_and_web/article3803056.ece It focuses partly on the video game player market and how SL can be used by companies to reach that demographic. In order to do that on the Main Grid, it would make sense for LL to merge the grids. It kills two birds with one stone. Regardless how we feel about it, LL will do what it sees fit to make it's money. They have demonstrated this in the past and I don't see why they won't in this case. Like it or not we interact with teens likely everyday and don't realize it. I am not saying I would agree with the decision, because I don't think I do. But I do think it is coming.

I think a viable solution is having the teens' parents verify their age via phone call and through a website, requiring that the teen's parents be active members of the SL community, letting teens know their safety is of utmost importance, giving them less complex AR tools, and teaching them about internet safety in general.
My daughter has been on the TG for nearly 3 yrs now, and I'm very satisfied with her responsibility and maturity. I would have no problem having her on the Main Grid, but she hasn't wanted to leave the TG and her friends, and we didn't want to break the rules about no teens on the main grid either.
Don't underestimate teens, is all I'm saying. When they get a creepy feeling on the TG about someone, they report them or they log out immediately, and they warn each other about strangers. Teens are often more mature than the 35 yr old stripper on the dance pole or the newbie wearing a lime green untextured penis in the WA.. They know when someone is creepy. They know their limits as far as the sex thing goes. Some (like mine) are grossed out by the sex thing, and those who are not are probably having sex IRL anyway.
OTOH, the only benefits my daughter and I have seen for allowing teens access to the MG is that there is far more to buy and more access to good building/designing tutorials. Oh, and live music and dancing (I didn't know they don't have good dance animations on the TG).
Last thing: Blue's a good guy. Why are people burning him for starting a discussion, yet we get angry if a good discussion in the forums is shut down for being off topic or against the forum rules? Door swings both ways.

This is the exact same experience I have had with my teen on the TG. He has been there for almost 3 years also (though he doesn't log in very much any more, as he tends to go out on weekends now). I also second the comment on Blue!

I wonder how many users are on the teen game now. I wonder hoa many are in the Adult game instead.
