what do you think if copybotters do this

if someone buy's a nice idk lets say Car. It was 2,000L, do you think if they copybot it and make it full perm. But make it so the creater still says orgional. And if they dont sell or give away. Do you think this should be still agents rules? and im talking keeping scripts unviewable still. But able to replace them.

Yep same here. but they are not giving away or looking at scripts in what im talking about. And they bought the car not took. They just gave mod rights

If they are not giving it to anyone, or selling it, and just keeping it for themselves, how is that any different than using the car they purchased.

unless of course the said car is unmod, and they want to mod it, then maybe they should contact the creator to see if they can get a mod copy...

no, it's not ok. It isn't just the physical 'car' but the car's design, textures, etc. A creation on SL is like a work of art really. It is not ok to copybot something for your personal use. IMHO.

I've got experience of content theft. There isn't much one can do. You can express how you feel to the thief and hope for the best, but for almost all SL creators the stakes are far too low to attempt to collect compensation in a court. You'd very likely spend a hundred times what you had lost, and have time loss and stress on top of it.

Just to be clear, my original post was based on a reading of the OP that indicated he might be the one doing the copybotting.

You can't copybot scripts. At least that's how it was when I last heard about it.

But you should know that copybotting will get you banned if caught.

That was much more than just a feeling. Let me add some more- there is technically may absolute nothing to protect as all accounts are free without any protected registration. This will may change in future.

SO, it is easy to copy everything. I mean - E.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g! Even scripts! Yes copy this! The only way to protect the community - is - the community!

SecondLife will not die if you talk about it - make it public- make any copyboted item public by sending the AR. Make sure you include the screenshot and name the creator.

If the copyboted item shows the original creator name - inform this person too. Do not be afraid sending the AR to LL. Do NOT hide things. You need to AR the person. If there is no response, do not blame LL. They are working on things and not every AR need to be answered but it wont be useless.

I'm not sure how much good an AR does. The original creator can file a DMCA.
