Are you serious? If so, why do you think this?

If your suspicions are correct, it's probably a chat bug designed to follow you around and IM everything said in the vicinity to the owner. Easiest way to get rid is to wander into a no-script area or teleport into a different sim.
If you have good evidence of being bugged, search for an online Linden and ask them to check for objects owned by others about your avatar. If they find the bug, they will take action against the owner. It is against the ToS to bug people. Maybe against the law too.

Remove all your attachments - this will remove any object you are wearing that may contain a bug

I'm curious, what makes you think you have been bugged? Why would someone even want to do that? I can't imagine all the mundane things my listener would have to endure LOL.

LOL...right???

They do it though, I would think something was said or done, that a petty griefer or took personally, so they shot a bug onto Julien, waiting to hear a "slip-up", OR to take Julien by surprise at an event or somethin, start griefing, and try to make it appear to be Julien griefing by using invisibility.

If you go to Security & Gadgets or whatever on SLBoutique...they have all kinds of "Combo Packages" like that. Ironically, I see very few actual "high tech" property security devices for sale

"Security" Bugs

I saw a huge combo pack that I think somebody used on me when I first signed up, but I guess it's gone now. It included functions to locate an avatar ANYWHERE in any SIM, orbit, push them into the ground forcing them home, entrap them in a bubble attatched to a red worm that would drag them around, bounce them around for 20 seconds, or stand on thier head, without asking permission.

If you piss off a griefer, you better hope they don't have any L$ lol

Julien,
Walker has given you the best advice. Just tp somewhere else. No bug can follow you in a tp. It's that simple. Once you are gone, one of several things will happen: [1] The bug, with no target, will self-delete or [2] if it is a poorly made one, it will sit there trying to find you again until the land it is on auto-returns it to the owner, or [3] if auto-return isn't turned on, it will just sit there until it gives up. I haven't heard of any so poorly made that they continue to scan for their target forver (such a massive lag, is the mark of a script kiddie).

No bug can "attach" itself to you unless you allow it. Assuming that you didn't get a blue drop down saying that some object wanted to attach itself to you (and if you aren't expecting this... the correct answer is always NO), then said bug is merely following somewhere within chat range.

As for the several questions that asked why would someone do this? No reason. Some twits do it just for giggles to random targets. I use listeners on many different channels, and i've "heard" these fools issue their bug commands then tp out. Why? Who knows. Why do people eavesdrop in RL? That's a question best asked of a psychologist. Within the context of SL... I would say they just do, because they can.

That's VERY good info. *files away for future reference* Hmm. Would be nice if there was one central location for us to store ALL our current anti-griefing tips, to save time.

Actually, i use the listeners specifically for anti-griefing. Most (not all, just most) of the freebie griefer weapons communicate with their owners on specific channels. These are very commonly used channels. The listeners give me a warning when a griefer is about to cause trouble because they will send a command to their weapon like "unsafe" or some such to enable it to fire. The listener will detect the command and report it to me, giving me the extra 1-2 seconds needed to sit down to prevent a push.

The Chat Parasite works well. I have been field testing it on my RL GF who has been spending a lot time in SL...come to find out, she's been naughty all over the place in SL.

I think the main reason ppl use tools like this is to find out what a husband or wife is doing behind there back.

It's why I use it.

I have had a listening device in my house for some time. I have found 4 suspicious objects and deleted them. Thursday I found two more and deleted them. I still have one in a door embeded in the ground below my house which I can't find but I know is sending transmissions. How do I know? A person who I used to be business partners with and I still communicate (know thy enemy) and he knows far too much information about me. I think he feels shuned romatically - why I don't know - we never had that kind of relationship - and I am killing all his listening devices one by one. Thursday nite a friend and I were sitting in my house talking and a griefer shows up in my living room and attacks my friend and I, with some kind of flamethrower device, sending us to the next sim. I immediately check my Chat History, get his name and find him in Search. This griefer is 2 days old, so I know he's an alt. My next step is to file a report. If you think you are being bugged you probably are. Why? Some people just don't have anything else to do. I have enough evidence on this guy to file and now I just need to know where to go to file it.

This is a really stupid question, but if you own the land, can't you just return all objects not owned by you? Or if you don't trust the person who gave you an object as a gift, why not just delete the object?

If group land and not deeded to the group though, and you arent the group owner (I think thats all of them) then it will return your objects as well.. and maybe you have some things friends set out that you dont want gone y'know? Have t find the specific item, which can be annoying ^^
