Once a liar, always a liar

A few snapshots I took to once again expose the completely lame methods that Linden Lab uses to lie, today some of them actually becoming hilarious and too obvious to even be called a lie any more.



Hmm... I wonder if LL actually -realizes- that some people actually notice the difference between the tag on the login page and the login reply. They probably thought that they can use the "Our country is the most free country" strategy *that* easily

I think they use a loop hole to justify that..the RC has forced updates..the old SL viewer i use as a back up hasn't been updated in while...just a thought

You're only required to download an update if you're using the Release Candidate. The RC is a testing ground and there is no point in participating if you don't test the latest version. If you don't want to upgrade, don't use the RC.

The standard client continues to log in perfectly well; I was using it while the new one was downloading.

Also, even if it _was_ a mandatory update somehow, and the text on the page wasn't accurate, this would still be a ridiculously overblown and inaccurate thread. LIES! LIES! THEY ARE LYING LIARS AND LIE ALL THE TIME!

The Windlight client has a separate interface/welcome page then the normal one from what I seen, and separate releases and updates that go in parallel with the normal viewer ones, like two different products. I found a mistake or conflict between the updates and the information unlikely.

If that is true however, and they didn't put it there on purpose, they should have fixed it as it's visible for months and really not so hard to fix. Really, it may be a "beta-type" client, that many people use. But its not too hard to keep the information updated and valid. Just what I think *shrugs* should probably jira it then.

Yeah this is about Windlight, which apparently has mismatched information in this case. I haven't used the normal viewer for months myself to know what they did to it. Anyway, hope it gets fixed soon if its not too hard, so others don't get the wrong idea at first.

I cant believe some of the lengths that some will go to critisize what undoubtly is the best "game" that is out there. Why is it that some people need to have everything sugar coated and totally perfect or they will point it out for the whole world to see? All I can say is BIG WOOP! This unfortunate error really makes no difference in the grand scheme of things (at least to me) and the RC is a test client after all. Im not gonna name names here but if someone thinks that the owners of this game are in it just to pull the wool over your eyes why do you stay? Uninstall it and move along some of us really do enjoy it. And yes there are ongoing problems and yes sometime things are a bit borked but if it gets to be too much for you...take a hike.

Linden Labs have a history of doing many annoying things in my list, which is the reason why I'm not too slow of accusing them when I see something like this. I honestly don't mind updating, I like having the latest version all the time, but it does get annoying to see one thing in a corner and another in the other like that. I like SL and I don't want to uninstall it, but that doesn't mean I don't mind each time something like that pops up and the service is ran poorly.

Anyway, sorry for my own rant about it and who got upset by it, and when they have the time I hope they fix it. This should probably be moved to bug reports or something, or closed.

I have signed in almost every night and haven't had a mandatory call to update. That's kind of strange me thinks........

wow...so if you get the newspaper tomorrow and look at the index on the front page to find out where the editorials are...and then find out they are not where they are supposed to be (omg...editorials are on page 7 and not 12 like they said on the front page!)
...are you going to call up the newspaper and complain because one department didn't get the other departments memo correctly?

WL is almost always a required download (it wasn't a couple versions ago due to an issue with the software update). I suspect the front page text is a boilerplate served by some other system.

Maybe it's a "lie" -- but I figure it's jes an error. Either way, life's too short to get up in arms about that. Bigger issues in this and the other world.

I'm with Mari, with all the various issues that LL has with SL, coming to the conclusion that a small technical glitch in a non-release version of the candidate is some sort of deliberate deception by LL is a bit of a stretch...

If you don't want stuff like that, don't use pre-release clients.

If you're using the RC or the WL clients which are TEST clients, then you should expect to run into all sorts of glitches and oddities. Which you should then report.

The main SL viewer is sorta still a testing platform *shrugs*

And there is really no reason to have older versions of the test platforms. For those that want to test that much, they should get that open-source to have a stand alone sim on thier own PC. Then you can make it whatever client release they wish.

Mircea Lobo if it bothers you so much use the official viewer till Windlight is released, or submit this to JIRA and stop bitching! I am sure there will still be certain manditory "Milestone" upgrades that will be required. But is you are using beta and you do not understand that you have to keep up to date on the latest version then you should not be using it! Yes I find the update annoying at some moments, but once I install the update I am always pleasantly surprised.

Either way I am with all of those that are tired of unproductive rant/whine threads. Stuff it.

After this post I am immediately going to call my lawyer and sue LL for false advertising. After that I'm calling both my Senator and Congressperson and demand a full investigation. When I'm done with them I'll be calling the White House and then the United Nations. These kind of lies can no longer be ignored!!!! Linden Lab has gone too far this time!!!!

On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't use Release Clients if I am not willing to put up with bugs and errors.

LAUGHS! Oh please don`t make me laugh any harder...... When people always say "DAH ITS BETA your expected to see this occure...." well love true but thats doesnt give the code people the rigth to totally F***up the client. Or does it because its expected. Now like many here i been helping send in reports etc about beta testing the clients for over 2 1/2 years. Why do we do this because we want a good client release or the future. If not for DAH........"unproductive rant/whine threads" in your mind the coders wouldnt have any reason to try harder.........
