How often do you reveal your alts to people?

My alts are pretty much just there for testing purposes. Except for my main alt,she holds my money cause I can't be trusted. However,I have never felt the need to hide any of them. I've almost posted with the main one a couple of times, but that's just because I wasn't paying attention.

My alt became main because I liked the name better. So, now all my friends know the alt and most have forgotten the main even existed. So now the old main is the new alt that serves as the inventory closet and piggy bank. I have another alt that no one knows about. Even me apparently as I only log in with it about once a month. I wonder what it does when I'm not around? Hmmm... I better check in on that alt sometime soon. It's probably lying naked in a gutter somewhere too hung over to move.

Here's a little secret. You just have. Maybe not in names but you've made it clear you have alts.

I like to say "I have an alt named SuezanneC Blackflag" every ten or fifteen seconds.

I'm a bit of an altoholic, although only one of my alts logs in with any regularity. We're both open about her being my alt, for a variety of reasons. In fact, she and I went to the place-that-shall-not-be-named together and hung out for a while. My closest friends know about one other alt, and my very best friend in SL knows almost all of them.

Since the alt I described above is a robot and behaves like a robot, there is no ambiguity of identity. I am human and I've been given a helper robot.

My partner knows all my alts. Most were only made for fun names and stuff like that. I have an alt that is specifically for working on stuff that is public knowledge to anyone who wants to know, and a couple I had from a while back for exploring that I told friends about.
I don't think I'm too bothered if they would all be "outed".

I have a single Alt account - one that all of my friends have forgotten about simply because I do not use it very often anymore.
Only my partner knows who it is now .... Mainly because she lives with me and we both use it for testing.

I don't really see a reason to reveal alts at all...unless you have something to hide. And that goes back to the whole honesty in relationships thread. And friendships are relationships too. The only reason to reveal an alt is to be honest with people you feel deserve your honesty.
But this is speaking from inexperience since I have no alts.

From: Conifer Dada Definitely I'm the only Premium member, so the alts can't post on here, thank goodness! Just F.Y.I. Non premium members can post they just need Payment Info On File (I think). I agree with you and Claire though I would not bring my alt to the forums to post though unless a power struggle between main and alt resulted in the alt becoming main and vice-versa - then I might.

True. Used to be that payment info had to be used, but even that doesn't seem to be true any more. With this account I was on the forums before my payment info was used (Though it was on file)

From: BMcD Howlett Ummm.... what is an 'alt'? Im pretty new to SL (obviously). Welcome to the fourms and SL. An alt is an Alternative avatar. Like if you created another avatar and then had two. Hope that helps.

My sister's main became my alt. I figured since she didn't use it, I would.
But she has been in the dark for awhile now, poor thing. I just have no use for her, seeing as I don't get hounded by too many people, so I dont feel the need to get away or be private.
But she's there, waiting for me.
So I guess to get to the main question asked, there is no need to reveal her, since I don't use her. But even if I did use her for some reason, I wouldn't have a problem telling people she is my alt.
