Posting strategically is all about someones EgoFlying. The "lookame, lookame." gang. This kind of thing makes these forums a complete joke and this thread, in particular, the reason I have now removed any links to RA. It 'used' to be somewhat interesting but not anymore. I will now only link in to Content and Creation forums. Thanks Jigawho!

I'm most comfortable with my posts if the total number of words is a power of 2. Contractions count as a single word so I am usually able to tweak things without unduly altering the meaning, although sometimes I am forced to "pad" up a post that refuses to work below, say, 33 words and must be promoted to 64.
(You counted, admit it)

I sense you ae a more modest type - I am guilty of EgoFlying (I luv that expression!) but YOU are guilty of "posting stregically" - placing your post at just this position in the thread and then removing links to RA - not sure when it "used" to be more interesting. I think it's very interesting still and I am not the only one who posts. But this is not a Content and Creation forum (THAT should be called "The Book of Genesis" I reckon). Its Answers. It's just Jig. Jiggy, Jigsy, Jigster. or Juganaut as my dad called me when I was a tot.

The only way to ensure that your post is at the top of at least one page in a thread is to be the OP . . . Pep ( . . . which kinda explains Jig's principal strategy, I suppose. ) PS I have a 48 inch chest too, Ray.

From: Raymond Figtree But what size bra cup? Manboobs? I leave those to bikers and bodybuilders. Pep (I even still have a six pack, although it's hidden under a beer barrel nowadays . . .)

It will remove his main raison d'etre.

The blog's spell checker screws up Apple's built-in spell checker.

I have "posted strategically", in a sense.
If I have an idea about some new feature I'd like to see, on Sunday night, I might wait till Monday morning to post it. I think it would be nearer the top of the thread list when more people are online. The global audience reduces the effect of posting time but doesn't eliminate it entirely.
I bump threads in a deliberate manner to some extent. There's no need to bump a thread too many times in a day, but posting a reply to a thread you want people to read every day for a few days or once a week is bound to increase how much it's read.
Sometimes I'll post a reply that is intelligent, useful, good-natured, etc. and then someone posts a reply which is stupid, hateful, and useless. I have from time to time deleted my reply and reposted it so it will get to be the latest reply for at least a few minutes.
I also start most of my threads with topics unrelated to SL in my group forum so the forums intended for learning about and teaching how to use Second Life aren't cluttered with annoying distractions.

From: Raymond Figtree I dont think anyone puts that much thought into it. At least I hope not. QFT. If I had to actually worry about counting posts and anticipating other people's moves, it would certainly get too involved. I have a hard enough time choosing my words when attempting to write clearly and effectively. (and having to spell check on a 3rd party site to boot, Where is our forum spell-check!?)

There's a spell checker extension for Internet Explorer if anyone wants one, at http://www.iespell.com/

I guess I'm so used to having every application on the Mac having a spelling checker that I forget people have to put up with less.

BTW when I misspell something on here, it gets underlined in red... I guess that just must be a function of my browser (Firefox).

Pep (Lazy posters who don't use the relevant functions of competent browsers won't use built in blog spell checkers either.)

Pep (Lazy posters who don't use the relevant functions of competent browsers won't use built in blog spell checkers either.) They do? Is that the little alphabetty thingie that is in Word? But that's American. What's a blog spell checker? I think my spelling is fine - it's mytyping that is teh problem.
