From: Jig Chippewa How many of you "post strategically"?
Okay, let me tell you what I mean.
It means you want YOUR post to be at the top of a page when a page "is turned" on the thread site. So, for those of you who don't get it, you dont wanna have your post at the bottom of the scroll, you want YOUR post to be at the top of the next page. Get it?
Okay, or you want YOUR name on the page that opens Resident Answers on the computer screen. So people scroll down all those boring forum sites that no one ever goes to, like "Building and Scripts" (yawn) or "Ask Blowfish" or some such rubbish and they see "Posting Strategically" and everyone goes "ooo a Jig thread! Lessee what insights she has into posting in Rez. Ans." and then everybody settles down and reads.
Oooorrrrr, you say, okay I have to anticipate ol'Pep and prepare my answer before he even posts so I can grab him by the balls and give his intellect a little squeeze.
That's Posting Strategically. Do you do it? Do you have any hints for teh rest of us? Oh and regarding this post... What absolute nonsense. But i suppose people actually do this since someone was able to think it up and post.

ok so...if someone is actually trying to place their posts in a certain order or place...they have wayyyyy too much time on their hands and need to shut off the computer and do something else for a bit... lol

From: Brenda Connolly I just throw them out there. I really don't care where they land. Run it up the flag pole and see if anyone salutes it. Your posts or your pants?

Just wondering.? Do you remember the apocryphal story about the genuine Oscar Wilde and his friend? Of course, you do. But for other people's benefit, I'll tell it again. Oscar was with a close friend. They were listening to a young "wit" who said something particularly bright. Oscar said, "I wish I'd said that." Oscar's friend said, "You will, Oscar, you will." Get it?; you will, Oscar, you will.

I would post, but it does not meet my stringent criteria for optimal effect and would be a waste of keystrokes and electrons.

Yes. 1) I make sure that the thread hits when I have 4 hours of computer work lined up, so that I will be around when all hell breaks loose, and I can answer all misinterpretations and insults immediately. 2) I generally start a thread at a time of day when everyone can get a full half day of hell breaking loose and insults flying....before what's-his-name wakes up, and can come in for the final blows and feel like a real man. 3) I do not run advertisements for the store while starting a thread, so that people will say that woman is full of it....why the hell would I go to her store. I alternate weeks on that. 4) I write the thread, then stuff it away and save it for 24 hours, then review and decide not to ask - someone will ask next week - I'll just read and mooch off of them, and let some Noob take the heat. 5) If it makes it past the above stage - I reword the question about half a dozen times so that it does not insult anyone, only to find that the rewording is insulting, and should have busted it out plain as day with original raw wording.....at least the insults are not subtle, and I don't have to take the passive/aggressive wrap. 6) If torn between posting the thread or not....I ask myself...."what would Jig do?"......then do the opposite. 7) I add a few smiley faces here and there to indicate sarcasm. disclaimer: none of the above applies to this post. This is a post...not a thread question. Back Off.

What arrogance to "post strategically" to ensure your always at the top of the list. It's not even necessary since you typically take up half the posts up there (yes, that is an exaggeration). I can't say I'm not surprised that you would ask the question.
Have I "posted strategically" Yes, I have - twice that I remember. Both times were technical issues - real issues, not rubbish. When I see them running into the next page I "bumped them".
