A while back I posted about a blog i read where LL was asking creators to make new stuff for the default Avatars.

Anyone notice they are now in the library?
Check under Library-> Clothing. (shows up in the Recent items tab if you set it to a few days back)
Avatars by Nylon Pinkey, Adam n Eve, Grendel's Children, Renegade Clothing, and Wraith Unsung.

Looks like some of them actually come with prim hair and shoes. Wow. Edit: I'm trying some of these on, and they're actually bloody good. About time the newbies had some decent starter clothing. Prim skirts for the girls, prim shoes and hair for everyone, and great-quality texturing. |

Well... anyone knows if Orientation Island & alike was updated to cover the subject of attaching prim skirts, shoes and hair, explaining that concept to new users who are not alt. accounts or who don't have a helpful friend sitting by their side?
It probably got burried in the rolling restarts. |

I recently made an accounting alt on June 2. No new avatars were available then. The OI HUD that explains communication is outdated as well (it says something like "push the Chat button at the bottom of the screen to talk."

Maybe the pictures just don't do them justice (http://fabfree.wordpress.com/2008/06/07/new-freebie-avatars-in-your-library/)... but they look like freebies to me, not the quality I would from some of the names mentioned.

Well i think the creators have to strike a balance. If they put their A1, Top Notch work into the library for free, they just sort of killed any chance of getting newbies to buy something. I think you have to agree though, they are 10 times better than what LL previously had.  _____________________

I think it's great those makers have become even more a part of SL and congrats to them!

I remember seeing many of these in the survey that they recently did on avatars. I'm glad they finally did this as the old default avs really were bad. These seem more along the lines of the avs you can select from some of the other registration portals. Combined with the new decent looking clothing and hair, it no longer just screams NOOB.

I'm happy about the new avs ... just a teensy bit disappointed that everyone now has the cardboard box bot, though, since that has long been one of my favorites in my Grendel's stash.

OK...so there are new avs in the Library. Big deal.
 Are there any of these new avs on the REGISTRATION page? I haven't checked, but considering that all the noobs I saw on OI yesterday were the Same Old Noobs, I would say not. By the time your average newbie searches thru the Library and thinks to try on some of the avs in there, he or she has also probably bought his or her first good skins, hair and clothes. _____________________
