In my opinion, the whole adult debacle, is ll trying to Obey the law, the way they are doing it is, as demonstrated, discusable, to say the least, but has nothing to do with someone, Linden or not, enjoying some adult entertainment in whatever form.

Just like in the big bad real world, even tastefull erotic art is Adult content.

Seeing a few lindens doing some erotic dancing, now that would be more interesting.

As far as I am aware, this did happen, as I have seen the chat log, and pictures.

And yes, it was an art installation - I did machinima for the opening night.

With respect to the dissenters on this thread, I think this event is actually reasonably interesting and important, even if the Herald story itself is, as usual, barely literate and largely uninformative.

It is interesting because the distinction between "porn" and "art" is one that has been made by LL itself in many of the documents relating to Adult classification.

It is interesting because, whatever his current position and influence in the company, Phillip's status as founder gives him a cachet that lends some legitimacy to the appearance of this kind of edgy art installation in SL.

And yes, frankly, I WOULD find it of interest to learn that a highly-placed Linden had attended a REAL porn show, or engaged in BDSM roleplay, or what-have-you, because this would say something fairly important about the ethos of the corporate culture of LL.

I dont even know the dude,,, never met him. how would I know if he would or not. It would be nice to meet him though.. but I bet he is way to busy to taking the time to talk with a simple person like me. I wonder if he gets upset at typos...

Yeh, it's good if he did go to something risque, it takes the weight out of it.

Another thing that comes up with this is isn't it typical that most of the trouble comes from scandal and not reality, pixel or flesh.

I think he could justifiably attend a porn show or anything else in SL in the line of research.

From their point of view, it's better the Lindens know what happens in their world than that they don't!

If they really are bullcrap artists faking something like this for virtual political agendas, we should know about it.

Anyway, if it's an art opening or cultural exhibit, why wouldn't someone show up in their Linden account? SL is about diversity, and the Lindens support all cultural movements in SL.

In general though I find it hard to believe that any of them wouldn't show up to a personal art exhibit or event for recreational purposes in anything but an alt avatar.

SL may be some kind of game or chat room to you, but it's not to me and not to many other people here.

We do care what Lindens do, because it's what they do that has very profound effects on what *we* can do, can't do, and pretty much every facet of our Second Lives.

Your comment is the real-life equivalent to saying "what do you care what politicians do?" You may not be into what happens in the political world, but that doesn't mean others aren't.

And my comment is not B.S., there are a ton of articles posted on nearly a daily basis on that site, and this is probably the first I've ever brought up one of their articles in recent memory, maybe ever. Most of what they post is self-serving tripe. But every once in awhile there is a diamond in the rough.

The importance of your comment was lost on me until I realized what this show was supposed to be. I only just realized this was meant to be the counter-party to the Official SL6B, which of course doesn't allow adult content.

In that perspective, I have to agree it's kind of disappointing they didn't do a better job at advertising it, soliciting sponsorship form affulent members of the adult community (cough cough), and Being more inclusive for all types of expression, not just art/porn. When the development of this was first brought up at SL5B, i was excited to see what developed, and promply never heard about it again. I'm sad it fell so flat.

What may be porn lap dancing to an american is prolly Scottish folk dancing to rest of us.

Regardless of when, it was originally formulated as an alternative to SLXB, I remember they referenced the Real-world Freak Show. The fact it may have devolved doesn't change that. If I get time I'll dig up the blog post.

Loglady Loon did Freak Show first, and then followed it up with Pornosophy, both were art installations, and had no concurrency or anything to allude to SLXB at all.

I still wish I knew what happened to this idea, I thought it was wonderful at the time.
