Phillip Linden Attends Porn show in SL?

I wouldn't usually bother to bring up crap on the Second Life Herald, but this one, well it's really something. They are claiming Phillip Linden attended a porn show in SL and they have supposed pictures and chat lots. Do you really think Phillip would do that?

At face value I would say no, It's probably the last place he would want to be seen. But on the other hand, would these people really have the gall to try to fake this? What do you think?

I think Phillip Linden would be the main feature!

I dunno, he's sure to be age verified and there's no reason under the sun why he shouldn't if he felt like it.

I just can bring myself to care whether he went or not. If he did, is there scandal? Don't care. His avatar has always looked like it would be at home as a member of the Village People...

The Lindens are people too. I guess they usually use their alts, but you know some of them are out there getting into as much trouble as the rest of us.

Does the traditional corporate image matter to LL, or is it a new paradigm?

I think it's always been a new paradigm with SL, but the current management is trying to drag it back to the old ways. Either they will fail to do so, or SL will fail as it would become pointless.

I know changes like Zindra drive threads like this. For all the mess it's creating, I like the creation of Zindra and the cleanup of the mainland. Over the long haul, I mean. Not everybody needs or wants pornographic imagery in their face all the time, but at the same time, it's not being shut out of SL.

Perhaps this is growing pains?

I have no idea if this is true or not, but I think the premises of the OP are a mistaken in any case. This wasn't a "porn" show, it was an art show about porn. There IS a difference. If Phillip did go, it was presumably not because he was in search of a lap dance. In RL, people don't go to a Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition wearing trench coats and carrying newspapers.

They should go wearing HazMat suits.

So, he goes to a porn show. Supposedly, he's an adult. And the cod piece does lead one to think that he's got hormones of sorts...

Well first off, Whether it's a porn show or a art show featuring porn is just splitting hairs. It's a show, that has porn as the feature, regardless.

The reason I bring this up is there's so many who say LL is anti-adult, and anti-sex, and wanting to turn SL into a PG playland. So If that is true, why would the Chairman of the board be supporting this?

It leads to two logical conclusions:

A) it's fake.

B) the people who think LL is against Adult behavior on the grid are wrong.

I think it's important to know which is true.

Philip being there or not is less intriguing to me than the bizarrely clannish nature of the art community as represented in the rest of the article. And they wonder why they are having a crisis of sponsorship.

(FWIW, I rather doubt the writer's characterization would be recognizable to many of the artists involved. Assuming there were many artists involved.)

C) Not everyone in LL has the same agenda

D) Art and porn aren't the same things to all people

The porn vs art argument is always lively, but really I'm just going by how they characterized themselves in he article. They called themselves a porn show.

Oh, and I'll through in that the one Linden meeting I went to, with I think four Lindens there, had the conversation verve towards what it might be like to have a Linden as a submissive pet.

My understanding was that Phillip doesn't actually *make* the agenda, any longer.

I don't understand.

For months everyone accuses the Lindens of not having their finger on the pulse of what's going on and saying that they made decisions about adult content without ever experiencing it.

Then, someone writes an article suggesting that a Linden is actually attending adult content events and seeing what's going and that now that is a scandal too?

That's just silly.

I would hope and assume that Philip Linden and many other Lindens check out and explore lots of different areas in SL. We've had Lindens at our place before - and in fact one of them purchased a piece of Poser Art that I rendered - nothing extreme or hardcore, just a basic nude couple kind of thing.

Lindens are SUPPOSED to be around and being involved in all that is Second Life. So everyone needs to make a choice... do you want to give the Lindens crap for not taking in all that makes up this world we have all created? Or do you want to give them crap for taking it all in?

It's no wonder the world is in the state that it's in. Doesn't matter what anyone does, it's wrong.

That's exactly my point for bringing this up. I simply want to know if it's true. Because if it is, then all the people saying LL wants to remove all Adult content from SL are clearly wrong.

I never said it was wrong, nor has anyone else. It's just very hard to believe given LL's actions and the fact that Phillip blushes at even the mention of the word sex.

EDIT: I actually have my answer now. Philip's Avatar is in the Freak Show group. I think that is confirmation enough that he did indeed look into it. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and opinions.
