What exactly is 'profile stalking'.

I have noticed, while looking at peoples' profiles, that more than one or two warn that they don't like profile stalkers. But what is a profile stalker? I mean, if you put info in your profile it's there to be read. I assume that people read my profile and I don't consider it stalking. So is it when people read your profile and then start asking further questions?

I always thought the profile was there so you could read it!

Im not certain what the term 'profile stalker' means either. I have seen many profiles with stuff like...DONT IM me, dont do this, dont do that, dont fecking talk to me....and Im always very tempted to do the opposite just to be contrary....but I suspect the person is so up their own arse that any response I got would be muffled

These are the same people scaried to talk about rl. funny how people have to say comments like ( don`t be nosey ) or ( what you looking for ) or (I don`t mix real life and second life .But its these same people playing escorts and other such players on sl( mainly men )).Anways to each their own.

and then there are those of use who don't put anything in our first life tab becasue we want people to actualy get to know us as who we are before we give out rl info. Hell sometimes i'm a genderless abstract thing because preconceptions about gender can get in the way of having somone know you. Let them get ot know me baised on actions then I will give them information about those things I don't control like when I poped out of a vagina or what sperm was endocytosisted inot my mothers egg or how many times this ball of rock has orbited a ball of gas since I was extuded form an orifice.

I am a serial profile reader, so maybe I am a stalker? If I can see you from wherever I have stood you can bet I have read your profile I love em!

I wonder if stalker could be for "ex's" that maybe keep tabs on people? I dunno.. all I know is I wish people would put EVEN more in their profiles, I love a good read!

People who wish to keep their private life private have every right to do so. Just because they don't wish to share with you doesn't give you the right to sit in judgment on their character.

I'm one of those who keeps my private RL to me until I decide to share. Not when others decide I should. I am far from an 'escort and other such players' and I'm nowhere near male.

I would guess a profile stalker is one who uses the picks tab to teleport to where the resident hangs out looking for them. Even an easy way to find a person's house, since most "My BF/GF " shots are taken at home.

Gosh, then if you didnt want any stalkers I guess that would be a pretty stupid thing to do.

If you dont want someone using your profile to stalk you, don't give information you wouldnt want stalkers to know.

Profiles are public. Hell you can even access them from a web browser now. Dont put in any info you'd rather keep private.

No ... but next time I see someone with "No profile stalkers" in his or her profile, I'd be very tempted to ask!

I do get a kick out of some profiles. There are more threats and "Don't do this" than anything else. I feel like I'm back in Catholic School. To that I say a Collective..."Lighten Up, Francis".

Or you could use a throwaway alt, and put in your profile "Looking to meet Profile Stalkers" and see what happens.

I love reading other people's profiles. I also agree with all of you about the "Duh, threaten my Sis and I get mean" kinda thread. (What a charming REAL personality THAT type of comment brings to mind).
Read my profile. I work on it and manipulate it all the time. I would be insulted if people DID NOT read my profile.

So a "profile stalker" seems to be someone who TPs to places grabbed out of other people's picks.

Strange ... I always thought that the locations in "Picks" are placed there so that other people may go there. Why else l place a location there?

Ummm... no, you can't track who looks at your profile.

You can see how many people have viewed your profile directly from a classified ad you've placed, but thats about it.

I would say an alternate definition of "profile stalker" would be:
A manifestation of self-importance generally visited upon by those of larger egos.

I prefer to call it profile humping and I am an avid humper lol.

I love to read people's profiles, and if it's a good one ill go back periodicaly to see if it has been updated, maybe thats too weird I dunno, but it's what I like to do

I have no idea why someone would call it stalking, if you don't want someone tp'ing in to that place, dont put it on your profile (i've done it accidently before though put in a picture at my home which I wanted to keep private)

If you want to put a picture in there w/o divulging the location, TP to an all-water sim (e.g. Quepple) before opening the Pick. That's what a friend did who only has pictures and text in her Picks ... plus lots of links to empty sims.

Yes thanks Ricky, that is what I do now, I did the location mistake thing before in my Newbie days and had some random bloke follow me home from a club when I told everyone goodnight and that I was going home, Lol it took me forever to realise how he had found my home /me smacks hand to forehead!! Heheh I learned the hard way
