So how many "My Picks" can you put in one profile? I currently have my own stores in My Picks, and the club I work at is in there. If we have to treat the SL search like any other website to increase traffic, then Kitty is right in another thread - we have to create inbound links. I will happily trade links with anyone...You come to my store and put it into your Picks, and I'll come to your store and put it in mine (Caveat: Sorry Ding, this offer does not apply to direct brand competitors *smile*).

yep 10 and a lot of ppl use it for other things besides favorite places hehe
I would gladly trade picks with you, but how does one keep track of ppl keeping you in their picks?
(not saying you or I would delete it)
was wondering that, because I had a thought of some kind of incentive to get ppl to add you to their picks, the thing is they could add you then drop it once they get whatever the incentive is...
(not like a group, where ppl must be part of the group to get whatever freebies the group offers)

-Crunch Probably. On the other hand, there's no real benefit to actually logging the alts in as bots. Just creating them and adding the location as a pick would be sufficient. So it'll still be gamed, but at least it'll be in a way that does much less harm to other people in the sim. Edit: Hopefully get rid of camping, too.

It's not going to make a difference. All the direct brand competitor that you won't link to has to do is create a bazillion idle accounts or bots with links to their store.

I thought about an incentive as well Rhaorth, and about the only way I can think of to do it is to offer a weekly incentive, and you'd have to check weekly those people that you agree to have to do it, to see if it's still there. If it's not, the incentive stops. I'm sure there must be other ways that I'm not seeing or thinking of. I'd love to participate! I'm fresh out of picks since we only get 10, and I've been using mine for my store (duh) and for neat places around the grid I really like. No worries, though - I'll just create a couple new alts after I get home from work tonight to use for picks. I was thinking of doing that anyway to increase my own visibility, so I think it's a great idea that we help each other out too. I wonder how many 'new residents' we will gain this month due to people making alts to use as 'pick bots'. Here's my SLurl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Lilypad/229.293/122.82Tell ya what, after I add my alts tonight, I'll post their names here so you can verify I'm really participating in the pick exchange. I'd do it now but I'm already late for work. Oops. As an aside, we have a Christmas tree hunt going on at the store right now with original items we haven't put out for sale yet - there's a sign at the store with more info. (We've been busy creating stuff and are planning to put a bunch of new items at the store after the holidays.) I know this isn't the right place to post this - but since we're talking about exchanging store picks, I thought it would be only right to tell y'all about the free stuff you can get if you stop by.

(not like a group, where ppl must be part of the group to get whatever freebies the group offers) I've seen something like this, though I am fuzzy on the details. Basically, the store holds a monthly drawing, either for group members or for those who've signed up for the store group. If your name is drawn, you get a prize. If your name is drawn, and you have the store in your picks, you get a bigger prize.

If your name is drawn, and you have the store in your picks, you get a bigger prize. the thing is though, the new search takes a day or two to update, so say ppl know when the draw takes places, they will add yours to their picks, then once the draw is done remove you, therefor not helping at all I think that the new search is not the best, and just wish they would find something that works and can not be gamed (but we all know no matter what, someone will find a way to game it) I mean, here we all are, doing exactly that, gaming it LOL

I just hope that, like Google, they keep changing how they do the search calcs. Like making the picks only work for Avies that have logged in during the past week or something.
The thing is, if they are smart, they won't tell anyone what they are doing, so it's more difficult to game.

Related, easy way to know who has you in their picks: * find the URL to your parcel (it's listed at the bottom of the page) * search for link:URL-goes-here For instance, all the people who have Ahern in their picks: http://secondlife.com/app/search/search.php?hl=en&q=link%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fworld.secondlife.com%2Fplace%2Fe6318930-2e74-a8b3-1601-b6ff292d8e44&s=People
