So, How long do you spend in SL daily?

kk, now I'm curious (from the 2nd grad math blog and related posts).

Since that one site says 12 minutes a month, and LL says 23 hours a month, let's hear from those ACTUALLY spending the time in-world.

Feel free to post more exactly than I can give in the poll.

I personally log on for 2-3 hours a day Mon-Fri, and anywhere from 8-16 hours on the weekends *grins* Yes, me and my life partner are "addicted"

Only about an hr or two per week at the moment, but will probably spend a little more time in-world later in the year.

Honestly, I probably spend on average 8 hours, mainly at night. Totally addicted, and can't drag my partner in at all, hehe. Or is that a good thing?

a year ago i would spend 4-6 hours a day.
a few months ago maybe 2 hours a day.
recently i login maybe twice a week, for maybe an hour at a time.

During the week, maybe 3 hours after work, most evenings. Saturday morning here, been on for about 5 hours already,

*snickers* Early in the poll yet, but I'd say even LL underestimated the time for us to feed our addiction

23 hours a month? *smirks* I prolly spend that in a week.

I'm thinking all the one-timers (those that log in and never come back) lower the average more than those that just don't have the time, or are ~quite~ as addicted.

I'd like to see the numbers of hours of the 45,000 normally concurrent, minus those that spend less than 5 minutes online (to remove those just logging on to collect IMs and such). I'd bet that the average there would be 50+ hours a month. Esspecially when some make their living here, so being logged in is what they do for that 8 hours (or more) of work.

On a weekday, if I do log in 1-3 hours. On a weekend if I log in 1-8 hours .

weekdays usually 2 hours, sometimes as many as four hours .. rarely longer.

weekends varies -- sometimes 2 hours sometimes 6 hours, it depends on what is going on both in SL and RL.

10 to 14 hours a day 6 days a week.

Wednesday nights I have fighter practice so that's my night off =)

RL abducts me frequently so my time is sporadic. It can be zero hours per week or 8 hours per day. As much as I love SL, I do put RL and a couple other hobbies first -- although I'm working on blending one hobby into SL (heh heh). As an aside, on weekends if I'm feeling really indulgent, I can spend 12 to 18 hours in world easily. But that's very very rare.

Probably about 2.5 hours a day on average. During the last week I've been hooked up to RL a lot more than that because of Burning Life 2007 and the fact that I'd just celebrated a year in SL.

Also I've just acquired some nice roadside land very close to my roadside home, so I spent a bit of time putting up a simpler version of the Egotherapy Club on it.

I have asked my RL if they can reduce the amount of time I spend hooked up to their computer and being given things to do so that I can chill out in privacy a bit more in SL !!!!

On average, 4 hours per day, it varies according to RL and SL circumstances.

Also, I'd say, given the money I spend on SL annually, it costs me about $0.14 an hour.........

Ok, so I have no "real" life. 12+ for me most days.

Give or take 4+ on weekdays, 8+ on weekends.

Same here - on average at least 8 hours/day

When I first started I was in so much I forgot to eat sometimes. Up until a few months ago it would be 4+ hours during the week, and 6-8 hours on the weekend, but now its around 2 hours a night with several sl-free "reality breaks" each week. I still put in around 3 or 4 hours on the weekend.

My in-game best friend/Significant Other is still somewhat addicted, but her r/l job and her live-in partner have been pulling her out more, which I think is healthy.

Here's a twist on the question: what do you try to get done before you come into SL, such as cleaning, homework, exercise, etc?

I can't really answer this poll because I don't login to SL on a daily basis. I'd say I spend between three-four hours a week logged in right now, give or take the occasional spike.

For the first few months, I'd spend as much as twelve hours a day online but that had to change. Not being disabled and not relying on SL for work, I figured that indicated a problem.

From late October/early November, I stayed away for months at a time ..until around June this year .. mainly because of teh great Island pricing dramaz and feeling that no internet service was worth that much stress and annoyance.

I still feel that way now. The past fifteen months have taught me to keep my commitment small, so that I can take it or leave it when the next seismic shift in policy (without any notice whatsoever) occurs.

Usually about 6/day. It's split up though. About 4 in the morning, then a couple in the evening. It also depends on the day. Sometimes I don't log on at all. I'm curious...for the ones who are in SL 12+ hours, are you actually at the keyboard the entire time? My butt would be alseep after that much time! LOL

Depends. Days I work, if my husband is traveling on business - a couple of hours in the evening. If he working locally, nothing at all.

Days I don't work (husband working) - could be nearly all day if I have nothing better to do (i.e.; no errands). So, I don't know I'll average it at about 10 give or take. If I'm busy, only in the evening, maybe 2-4 hours if that.

Weekends - barely log on at all - just to check messages if that. Too busy being with husband

I check in on daily basis to check that partner and my properties havent been griefed etc. I try to get on once a day to talk/etc with SL partner. I have VERY busy schedule in real so use SL to wind down (sometimes it wind me up). So for accuracy of this forum I get on for 10/15 mins when I wake up at 7 ish my time. I work ALL day and get home or hotel around 11 ish most days I work so then an hour on sl to make me sleepy, listening to music and answering my cell phone calls at same time. Yes I am a workaholic BUT in my career I have no choice in the matter.

I'm amazed sometimes when i read how long people spend online in sl,much as i love this world and some of the amazing places in it i just couldn't imagine spending hours a day here,maybe i'm missing something or perhaps sl hasn't really grabbed me as it has for others.For the record i can spend a few minutes a day, sometimes longer, sometimes less,i don't plan on ever leaving sl just don't plan on spending loads of time in it

2 per day is probably low.....but I averaged it out because some days I don't get on at all....and other days I am on/off. Sometimes I log in.....but then do other stuff LOL So if we're talking actual active time in SL ... it varies (and yeah, when I first started I pulled the 10 hour days where I forgot to eat too)

Sometimes I log in and have absolutely no clue what to do with myself lol So... now I spend a lot of time taking pics and working in photoshop.... which kind of counts as SL time because it's SL related stuff. LOL Ok..so maybe 2 hours was low. I spend as much time as I can reasonable justify.... how's that? *blush*

This poll isn't to make people "ashamed" fo how much time they spend in-world. Though it may make some go "I spend HOW much time here?!?!? Ummm....is my wife/husband still in the house?" ROFL

Honestly, I just thought it intriging to see how much time others spend. I spend a lot of time due to RL physical reasons. (and also I AM addicted *Grins*). There are a host of reasons to be in SL. From the freedom it gives us beyond what we may be able to achive in RL (from wheelchairs, to just a stay at home mom), and for those that make a living here, and those that just log in to be with all the friends they've made across the globe.

My main point of all this (and is backed up with facts as the poll rolls on) is that even LL really has no clue as to how much TIME people spend here.

SL truely has turned into a Second Life for a lot of us. And as much as I rap on LL and on Philip for all the glitches and what seems to be poor management decisions at times, I do honestly thank him, and all who work at LL, for it. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop complaining *snickers*, but I do appreciate all the work.
