Gosh - I guess I'm not very silly. Not intentionally anyway.

When I was a newbie and frequented NCI Kuula I walked up to Garn Conover, a complete stranger, and said, "Here scary Cerberus monster thing -- nice scary Cerberus monster thing." You can look up his profile if you are not familiar with his countenance.

He actually rolled over and groveled like a normal dog. The unexpected is what keeps me coming back to SL.

I used to be in a group called Culture Jam that did creative flashmobs. Once we all dressed like SEC agents and occupied a casino, demanding to see their license. (Banned.) Another time we made a trek to Amsterdam dressed as nuns, priests, and angels, and unsuccessfully tried to convince the poor streetwalkers to turn their lives around. (Banned.)

Okay, This is a Friday-ish thread, but I've had a day, so I'm gonna post anyways.

What are some of the silliest things you've done in SL?

For myself, the night of exploding vehicles by turning them physical an then unlinking them comes to mind. So does the night we stacked 25 avvies at once. Some of the family chicken dances an the Onikokko + Manbo! party might be up there, too.

But I think this, from the other night, might top 'em:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=89oSkUZ1L5s

So what's yours?

Mari

I can't take credit for the video. Dimitrio Lewis shot and prepared it. :-)

My Sl Partner proposed to me in Caledon, in a pretty little gazebo... and as he got down on one knee.. a turkey came up... gobble gobble gobble....

we both collapsed laughing... and moved on... he got down on one knee again....

the turkey followed... gobble gobble gobble....

it followed us so we gave up.... then we found another quiet place and a Dutch guy on a horse came up and interrupted him again....

so we moved.... and then a noob came up dressed in a sort of mime artist costume and asked us for money....

in the end i just took the ring and said yes and we ran away....

I've done a few silly things - like tramping around Money Island in a giant Cthulhu avatar and roaring at newbs. Occasionally I've heckled sci fi fans by deliberately confusing details between Star Trek and Star Wars (seriously, it's a total riot).

I think the silliest thing I've ever done on SL, was once I put on an invisiprim avatar and went to Ahern; I stood in the planter in the middle of the square there. I said "¡Atención!" and started typing random numbers into the chat. I did that for about 15 minutes, typing numbers and throwing another "¡Atención!" out every now and then. I originally planned to stay there doing that for like a half hour, but I got called away by some friends - and besides, nobody seemed to be getting the joke. I mean, I knew it was obscure but I didn't think it was THAT obscure. Ah, well.

Banline trampolining.

Various 'fun with physics' stuff: taking huge batches of physical objects and dropping them to watch them bounce & roll, making an off-centre rotating object physical and seeing how far it flies, sitting in a twisted sphere and turning it physical to see how far *I'd* fly... that sort of thing.

Rezzing a couple of dozen daleks of opposing types in an empty sandbox and letting them fight to the death.

Taking a dare in a Truth or Dare game and ending up streaking Ahern.

That sort of thing?

I was there, but merely as an observer. I enjoy "happenings" but not griefing.

Yes, it must be pretty obscure. My best guess is it has something to do with the weird HAM radio signals some people hear around the globe that are a stream of numbers. Some people think it's an alien conspiracy.

But then I could be waaaay off. From what I've seen of Ahern, that wouldn't get those self-absorbed pontificators' atención very much. It would have intrigued me had I been there.

So you're a numbers station out of Cuba?

For real fun, give James T. Kirk the wrong middle name. It's a classic. ;-)

Almost nobody knows about shortwave these days. Even less know of numbers stations. Make a recording of that station and play it through voice. Might have better impact.

For me, launching partyvans across mainland continents is a fun thing. Have to watch out for parcels that're full of prims. Hit one and it'll kill my ride real fast. The other thing I do sometimes is attach Shoop Da Whoop heads to every body point and fire them at random. Otherwise, usually mess with physics or duplicate little plywood boxes that're set to physical.

One night at the pond I worked out how to get my pickup into the BBQ area by driving it under the pond, after myself and passengers riding in the tray did an hour or so of underwater, multiple rollovers and tuff truck 4x4 challenges, we astonished a bunch of newbies by launching 20 feet near vertically from the water and landing on the BBQ. narrowly missing many people somehow.
"Umm, I'm new here, did I just nearly get killed by an american pickup truck launching from the water with a kangaroo driving, 2 girls, a demon and a small dragon in the back?"

We were developing an Open Space sim and were terra forming on a large scale when this silly and fun idea hit me: Rez a big physical ball at the top of a hill, sit on it and let simulated gravity take its course. It kept us feeling very silly and amused for a good half hour or so..

when me and my partner meet online, there is a quick succession of gesture mania between us, probably its a subconscious mating call? one gesture we over use is the /sniff from the dragon in the library :)

Try saying "Doctor Spock" instead of "Mister Spock", and talk about how cool his jedi mind-meld is. Or tell them Episode 1 was your favoritest Star Wars movie because Jar-jar was so funny.

Not me. As a joke, a friend of mine caged me once. I rezzed a non-phys vehicle cube and moved out of the cage, only to find out that the cage would follow me after a second (even though I was sitting on the non-phys vehicle cube). I tried sitting on the cage, and suddenly I found myself at x-thousand meters up, in the next sim over. It wasn't a real "orbit"; but it did suck.
