Why do people Repeat Other Poster's comments?

Can I just add th this all seems like a ridiculous argument? Any information, whether repeated or not, is all good information if it helps someone. I mean for crying out loud. How many times has a simple question been asked by someone and been answered a dozen times? It is all good information however it's presented.

Look I get it -

ANYONE WANT PIE??????

Sure, I could go for some Key Lime. :) Don't fret, I spread copious smilies because I'm just giving you a hard time. :) If I was really upset, I would be sending InterSim Ballistic Missiles your way by now. :P

Why? Because sh!t happens. For example, just a year ago, I posted this bit of arcana: /327/4e/202259/1.html#post1618446/327/4e/202259/1.html#post1618446 referencing a 30 year old scholarly text. Except that JUST THREE POSTS EARLIER somebody else had referenced the same quite specialized book.

In that case, I posted without really reading the (few) preceding posts: I was just sure that what I had to say was so far off the beaten path that nobody would have mentioned it.

I took away two lessons from that experience. First, to not assume I'm on everyone's Ignore list when they post exactly the same information I've just posted to the same thread; and second, to never underestimate the erudition of Forums posters.

Yes, I get the point. I guess I just went off on a jag yesterday. Sorry if I got under anyone's skin. I'm usually the epitome of mannerly Forum discourse. (>.>;)

I agree with you. Seems there also are threads where someone will ask a question and there will be some half-baked answer somewhere along the way, maybe the second or third post after the question, and then all the rest of the thread is filled with talking off-topic. Excuse, of course, is that the question has been found, so now it is time to celebrate. So the more posts that answers the question, the better.

(I did not log on to this account to post that, I logged on to see why Mistress logged onto other account to participate on SL today, I am not trying to hide behind another account. - just saw this thread while Sonia instead of Lexxi)
