From: Tomas Gandini Perhaps, when the OP posts an answer to a question, we should all fore go any additional answers because we should all know that the OP's answer is the best and most perfect answer to the question and no additional information is required.
Just saying... It has nothing to do with being the best. It just seems to me a waste of time. If I read a thread and someone else has already answered it, I simply move on, and don't even bother posting. I simply want to know what motivates people to post a duplicate post to a question that has already been answered. I think I know the answer already, but I want to see what others think.

From: Darien Caldwell I have noticed this for a very long time, but It's reached the point I really have to ask what's up. Take this thread for example: /52/91/274677/1.htmlSo I fully and completely answered the OP's question, only to have someone come along and post exactly the same thing I said again. I can only think of a few possible reasons for this: 1) The person doesn't bother to read the existing comments and just posts. 2) The person's Ego is such they don't feel anyone else can properly answer a post, so they must say it so it's valid and official. 3) The person has you muted. 4) The person is just a jerk. So which one do you think it is? To annoy you....

From: Kitty Barnett http://forums.secondlife.com/showthread.php?t=272916 Guess who repeated the solution from post 2 in post 5? (Someone other than the OP bumping a thread and posting "I have this problem too" when the solution is right there actually makes even less sense) You didn't say anything about Locked items. Since I had some new information to add, I did. If you had mentioned Locked items, I wouldn't have posted.

From: Morgaine Alter See this is a perfect example of not trying to worry about what someone else is doing. I think we have a case of foot in the mouth disease.
Now to answer the op sometimes ppl just are not perfect and did not see that the answer was given. Maybe they were short on time and just posted there quick response. We are all human. But jeez I am sure I made plenty of mistakes and to have ppl make note of them makes me not want to post as much I dont want ppl up my ass.
I mean no discrepect to you personally its just I am tired of ppl watching what the other one is doing in here. The only foot in someone's mouth is yours. My post provided information which was not in Kitty's post. She did not mention Locked items as a possible reason for the issue.

...and by the way, I just want to clarify something here.
Was your OP aimed solely at me? Or was it more general in nature, a rant about people who post in this way that annoys you so?
If the former, I choose lime jello. Green goes well with my hair.
(Again, though, all kidding aside...I would hate to be on the outs with you, Jello or not. After all, you're a fellow admirer of Robert A. Heinlein)

From: Lindal Kidd Gee, Darien...that's kind of harsh.
There have been a lot of times that I post, only to find that someone just beat me to it by posting an answer while I was typing. In this case, though, I DID see your response before I posted.
The reason I posted was that I felt that your reply had an area in it that could be misunderstood. The OP's question MIGHT have been about multiple runs...but as I read it, they might also be asking "how do I run" with the ZHAO II AO.
I felt that it was useful to point out how that worked.
Now...just to clarify how I operate on these here fora: I DO read the prior posts in a thread, unless it's just incredibly long. (For example, I'll often post a reply in the Undead Thread without looking to see EVERYTHING that's already been said). I DON'T have you muted. Granted, my ego IS huge, and I am a chatty bi*ch and a forum whore of long standing (here and elsewhere). Even so, I don't (at least I THINK I don't) have a head quite so big that I think no thread is complete without my $.02 in it.
As for being a jerk, you'll just have to make up your own mind about that. As sweet as I am, I'm sad to say that there are actually one or two people on the planet who don't like me. I'll send you their contact info...maybe the three of you can start a fan club. Or an anti-fan club, as the case may be.
(Yes, I'm being a little sarcastic, 'cause I think you are kvetching for no reason. But I AM sorry that you got upset.) Well, I don't have anything against you Lindal. This is just a phenomenon i've noticed on and off for most of my forum career, and I simply wanted to know why people do it. I did single you out simply because it was a fresh, blatant example of this type of thing occurring. And honestly I'm not upset, just ranting a little bit I suppose. Feel free to post whenever and wherever you like, don't mind me.

Respectfully, Darien, you didn't mention the CTRL R thing either in the post you mentioned. She did add something to your post.

I know this one!! You start reading the question And as you're reading it, you're like "FRICK YEA, I KNOW this one" Then you race for the reply button without reading any of the replies And that's how it happens!

Can we still wrestle in jello? It sorta sounds like fun.

From: Darien Caldwell You didn't say anything about Locked items. Since I had some new information to add, I did. If you had mentioned Locked items, I wouldn't have posted. That's really not the point . You repeated what I said when there was no need to. Did you do that with bad intent? I really doubt it, it just happened. If I want to elaborate or comment on someone else's answer I'll quote it and type "*bump*" underneath it if it's corrent and then add my own comments without the need to repeat since it's quoted. Someone else will just repeat to stress an answer and then add their own comments without a second thought. I didn't point that thread out to point the finger at you as you seem to have taken it, it was to point out that it just happens. Maybe you didn't realize you did it, maybe you didn't even think about it. Whatever the reason was, it's likely to be exactly why other people do it too.

See how fruitless this can be I also added nothing against you personaly but I will stand behind what I said, sorry. Which I did add too, not just repeating a post, but I can take that part out if you'd like so you would be correct.

I noticed that a lot too Darien.(Nothing against anyone,I lurve you all.... But I do see a lot of that going on. I have recently seen the same reply seven times by seven different people in a one page thread But it's all good though,as long as people are being answered and helped.

From: Conifer Dada <SNIP>but another thing I really can't understand is why, at clubs, some people type snippets of the lyrics of a song that happens to be playing. We're singing along in chat... Although, most of the time, if I do this it's in IM.

Why? Because sh!t happens. For example, just a year ago, I posted this bit of arcana: /327/4e/202259/1.html#post1618446 referencing a 30 year old scholarly text. Except that JUST THREE POSTS EARLIER somebody else had referenced the same quite specialized book. In that case, I posted without really reading the (few) preceding posts: I was just sure that what I had to say was so far off the beaten path that nobody would have mentioned it. I took away two lessons from that experience. First, to not assume I'm on everyone's Ignore list when they post exactly the same information I've just posted to the same thread; and second, to never underestimate the erudition of Forums posters.
