LL is weening us off the forums!

If there was any truth to it, it's a bit of an own goal lol. The amount of time this has gone on, which let's face it, has nothing to do with cutting edge tech, is making them look very incompetent.

Well.... Correct me if I'm wrong, but the case isn't strong enough to hold someone of that... Magnitude. Perhaps that's why things are broken? _____________________

The amount of time they have lets people do what they please on the forums shows indeed the forums are slowly dieing. Like most other websites blog types of feed back is less time consuming and less resource eating. Cutting edge tech? Well I bleeding alot these days from all the broken and missing scripts and objects LLABS has lost during this wonderful growth period. 503 Service Unavailable The service is not available. Likewise Alyx. When I tried to read the thread intially I got the 503, then when I tried to post I got the URL not found. Not the mention the fact that this website is almost as laggy as SL on a busy night.

Region Down!
01-28-2008 09:12
I have just submitted a "region down" support ticket for the forums
As a basic resident, that form of "Special Question" seemed to be the best fit. Here's the text I used: "The forums have been plagued with 503 and other errors, to the point where they are nearly unusable, since Friday. The forums are part of my, and many others residents', SL experience when I cannot go inworld. Please return them to working order." . _____________________

I has a questionable post ready to go in another thread and got 503'ed so many times I just gave up. maybe that's how they are going to moderate. _____________________

Aha! Finally!

Most recent blog posting:
More Intermittent Website Problems Monday, January 28th, 2008 at 9:04 AM PST by: Teeple Linden Those of us who post here occasionally find ourselves in the position of play-by-play announcers. We think it’s important to let you know that we’re aware of a problem as quickly as possible, instead if letting it sit until we can blog a tidy post mortem. Because problems in a heavily distributed environment can be subtle and difficult to thoroughly trace, we sometimes have to relay unpleasant surprises (in the form of the infamous [RE-UN-RESOLVED] tags) as our tech team closes in iteratively on an operational glitch. Having said all that: These intermittent failures with our Website seem to be setting some kind of record for aggravation. Here’s what we know so far: It looks like a load balancer’s mostly to blame. A really stubborn load balancer. If you get a 500 Error, a 503 Error, or a redirect error, hitting ‘refresh’ in your browser will generally get you a good connection the second or third time around. Your irritation is thoroughly understandable, and we apologize for contributing to it with premature reports of resolution. Multiple Web-savvy Lindens are focused on this. Some of them, still on the road to work, don’t know that yet. They’ll find out very shortly. We’re not going to call this [RESOLVED] again until we’re sure the tag fits. –teeple p.s. ooops, jessica, well i'll leave this up to save people the 503's they get trying to look at the blog, lol! _____________________

"Your irritation is thoroughly understandable, and we apologize for contributing to it with premature reports of resolution. "
gah... "hey i pressed F5 and it worked *resolved*" sorry Teeple but this is the most stupid thing you`ve ever said, nothing can be resolved while all parts of the website fail and failed since friday so who ever said they fixed it are lying trough their teeth with no investigation what so ever as it was failing right in their face edit: if daily more then $1.4MILLION USD is spent/traded in SL, don`t you think calling in an engineer or 10 during the weekend to fix the issue`s so more money can be spent? 3.5% on all transactions would assume that _____________________

if daily more then $1.4MILLION USD is spent/traded in SL, don`t you think calling in an engineer or 10 during the weekend to fix the issue`s so more money can be spent? 3.5% on all transactions would assume that US$ exchanged on the LindeX (generally around $250k/day) is a more accurate reflection of how much money is spent on SL (although that still includes currency speculators so the actual spent amount will be lower still). |

The "US$ Spent Last 24h" statistic is a fictional number derived from the sum of all L$ transactions in the last 24 hours, divided by the exchange rate. The actual real life money involved is $0 since the only point where L$ has value is at the time of exchange for US$. US$ exchanged on the LindeX (generally around $250k/day) is a more accurate reflection of how much money is spent on SL (although that still includes currency speculators so the actual spent amount will be lower still). fiction or not, this is what they want people to believe with their inflated numbers so fits right in _____________________
