From: ArchTx Edo Actually the pages are 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 ,256.
Also I believe that some people have already been killed for delivering the pizza late in New York and Chicago. Traffic accidents not withstanding, you are probably right.

From: Claire Silverspar i have just read through this thread and it has made me laugh non stop! I guess i am going to have to find snow crash. i had no idea why it kept coming up and why people kept mentioning it till now lol. Sounds a bit wierd. Pizza is great, but the only ones near me are the stupid fast food greasy ones or the ones you can't pick up because they are so overloaded with junk. Im kinda acclimatised to Pizza Hut i guess that can't be a good thing.... and no Dominoes within delivery range for me. Despite living in the city! Claire, if you have Papa John's over there, give them a try. I've found them to be a decent option when out of town.

OK - for a more serious reply, page 14 describes a courier kid on a skateboard who uses a sort of sticky tether to hitch a fast tow ride from the pizza delivery guy. She has backward pre printed notes/taunts she can slap on his rear window so he can read them in the rearview mirror.
Page 65? I dunno. It talks about intellectual property being ripped off and impossible to protect. It also talks about voice altering software. That's an easy one -- all of this is nearly true today.
I'm disinclined to finish the novel right now to find out more of the predictions.

When you start reading "Snowcrash" - think Video Game extrapolated into RL. A fast racing, chasing video game full of stunts. It may not be the sort of literary genre you like, but in it's genre IMO it is written well. I could identify with the teenage girl, YT, quite easily - sporty, venturesome youth! But when she took care of a stray dog, I was right there with her.

A teacher once said to me "The trouble with Hard Science Fiction is that it's Hard."

Im more into the supernatural vampiry type stuff or the chic lit. Stunt action just isn't a page turner for me. still will have a go at it though.

ugh. Take the films "Videodrome", "Brainstorm" and "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and mix them together. Then put Bruce Campell in the lead.

ugh. More like, you are right there in the midst of the action of a video game - I found the plot complicated/convoluted, but at the same time, the characters were developed very well and I found they were believable, even though I found the story line, in places, very hard to believe in.

Unbelievable storylines are fine, that's what Sci Fi is all about. but as you said, I just couldn't grab hold of anything in it. Also in most fiction, I usually am able to latch onto one character, but none in this book spoke to me. Maybe I'll try it again. I'll find a camping chair, and see if I still have a copy packed away somewhere.

From: Sindy Tsure Wasn't saying that everybody has to like it, just that many do... I do, I do! I think Stephenson's a fantastically good writer. Literary, even. And I like Pizza Hut pizza much better than the stringy, greasy stuff made in NYC, And I think helicopters violate the laws of physics And I still like Brenda anyway. Just goes to show you that you don't have to be in step to be in sync.
