Is it cheating?

I just hit "New Posts" ... half the time when I respond I have no idea which forum the OP is in.

I understand closing threads due to nasty and inflammatory stuff. I understand moving posts to a proper forum, but not allowing a general discussion forum? Or getting all bent out of shape if a post makes its way in the wrong forum?

Some may be too tightly wound up. My advice is to chill and order up another pizza. I'm starved!

The problem is that this place cannot exist without moderation in some form, however belated it may be. Why? Because some people take the attitude that "it doesn't hurt anyone" and other people shouldn't say anything to help keep it organized.

I mean, do you really want to see the extensive discussion of sculpties and the various means of producing them in here? Or the people that can't seem to read the sticky about alpha transparency ask the same questions over and over again? Or to have people continually soliciting/hawking clothes/shoes/jobs etc. when it belongs in classifieds?

The other forums exist for a reason. Shoot, SLX and OnRez exist for a reason.

As Walker's sig says, "it's just a forum. no one dies." True, but it is far less enjoyable when it's a mess.

It must be, sometimes I think death could be the only reason he doesn't shut down some of these threads quicker

I'm pretty sure he isn't dead, unless he tried to nick a cookie from that guy whose picture I posted. That dude is serious about cookie protection.

Me too-I sometimes check where a thread originates from if it sounds weird, but apart from that it's "new posts" all the time....something I've been doing for years in several fora.

The documentary End of the Century is a detailed and heartbreaking look at the Ramones. Great interview with Joe Strummer when he talks about how they sneaked in to see them and how they influenced all the bands that followed. Sad that all the boys except Tommy have gone on to the great glue sniffing factory in the sky...
