Anybody here using Virgin media? I've just been logged out and can't log back on. The forums have been ropey, intermittently timing out.
Other websites like Apez aren't loading properly and I've just checked Virgin's service status and there appear to be quite a few problems across the country.
However I don't know if LL are having problems themselves on top of this or if it's just Virgin.

Yup same here. Keep getting a "Login packet never received by login server". Can't seem to find anything about it in the knowledge base either. And it took me an hour to get onto Residents Answers. Nothing on the blog as yet

Ha. I was just about to create a similar thread.
I'm with Be Unlimited. They were bought out by O2 earlier this year who have just recently started marketing a version of Be* products under their own brandname.
I thought all these connection resets might be down to lots of new customers diminishing available resources.
Apparently not. From what I gather over at ThinkBroadband, there are UK <> US connectivity issues for all ISPs this morning.

Just a datapoint from across the pond, I just did three consecutive logins from a US address with no delays despite 5000km and 16 hops. I'm voting for the transatlantic routes being munged.

From: Alt Aabye UPDATE: I got in straight away by logging in to a random sim. Try it. I can get into Plum but am logged out as soon as I try to TP elsewhere, no friends list, no groups, no map and no search either.

I don't know if it was just coincidence, but I put in a custom port number in the preferences and after that I got in first time.

Similar problems on Demon. Installed a caching nameserver on my Debian box and managed to log in ok. Some regions seem to be very down though and you get logged out if you try and tp to them. I get the feeling it's something nameserver related close to SL's end. Yay for the weekend I guess? Wonder if WorkingOnIt Linden is awake?

I'm with PlusNet (horrible ISP... prolly only beaten by TalkTalk in the horrible stakes) and had serious connectivity problems last night.... serious ruthing issues and also ping times averaging 5 - 6 seconds (and over 10 seconds in some cases!). This reminded me of the time when PlusNet forced me onto an 'unbundled' LLU exchange operated by Tiscali in my area. The quality of my connection took a nose-dive (Tiscali have an atrociously skinflint record when it comes to hardware maintenance and investment). In that case it turned out to be a faulty switch (averaging 30% packet loss) owned and operated by Tiscali that was handling the data stream coming into the UK from the US. It took several weeks before they fixed that one.
Walker, I've been thinking of moving to Be now that they've dropped their prices. What's their service and connection like?

As does Demon. Not sure about Virgin and others.

From: Alazarin Mondrian Walker, I've been thinking of moving to Be now that they've dropped their prices. What's their service and connection like? I'm not Walker but... Your exchange needs to be LLU, but obviously if you're considering them you'll know if this is the case or not. Speeds depend on your distance from the exchange and quality of your line, there are no guarantees here. I have what might be considered an average line and my speeds are: 1.2 Mbps / 14.5 Mbps - up/down Service and connection was trouble free and fast. You'll see people bitching in their forums, but that's the nature of them - you're familiar enough with that phenomenon here

Having same problems. I'm with BT. Get logged out when I try and teleport, and then when I try and log in again it gets to Region Handshake and loses it. Very frustrating!

Sorry, I completely missed that question. Best internet provider I've ever used. (I've been using the internet from home since I discovered Compuserve in 1993, so that's quite a statement.) With BT IPstream ISPs (ie. the vast majority) contention affects speed and latency at different times of day. Be* is "relatively uncontended", so performance is generally the same 24/7. They do have a FUP, but they've never used it, despite having some major downloaders. I know I download around 300gigabytes during my first month. I know, I know, but I don't do that now. Freedom just does weird things to you when you first get it. Assuming your nearest exchange has been unbundled, I'd recommend posting the distance with your current DSL stats (SNR & attenuation) in the ThinkBroadband.com forum and asking other users what speed they think you'll get. You could call Be* and ask that way, but they always seem to underestimate what people end up with. I got 15Mbps/1.3Mbps originally, even though they told me I should expect 12Mbps downstream. I've increased this to 20Mbps downstream by (i) getting my noisy phone line fixed, (ii) ensuring my router is plugged into the master socket (iii) which now has a ADSLNation faceplate fitted. (These do a better job at frequency separation than traditional microfilters.) O2 bought out the company before I joined, but the Be* brand will remain as a separate product. Concerns ever since have been that the deluge of customers attracted by O2 will be the downfall of Be* due to the resources they'll use. As O2 have now finally launched their internet product, the next couple of months should determine whether the doom mongers are correct. Given Be*'s performance so far, I think we have reason to be optimistic.
