They started as a group of ex Trotskyites who decided to support the US during the Cold War They want a strong government, they don't mind high taxes, they also don't mind sending other people's kids to die in distant lands or in killing the kids of people they don't like. They like war, but none of the have ever worn the uniform. They are much too important to do that. They don't really take an stance on social issues, but when they do they tend to be blatant hypocrites. Wow, I want nothing to do with them then. I do not think there is anything in there I would agree on, other than the supporting the USA during the Cold War part. Didn't Gore Vidal once observe, of this whole phenomenon, that no true Virginian, at least, would dream of supporting anything new? I think I support the The Party of Moderate Progress Within the Bounds Of the Law. I do not know Gore Vidal, so I do not know if he once observed that or not. |

Pastry not pie! Beer not wine! Arctic foxes not ferrets! I've noticed a distinct lack of support for beer here. Beer I tell you...BEER! Even slugs love beer. Gawd! Kitties do not like beer. |

Hardly a charitable description. However, the name "neocon" odd, since they're neither new nor truly conservative. _____________________

Pie please. Savoury if possible. Beef and onion or liver and kidney would be ideal but really I'm not fussy. A simple butter pie of thinly sliced potatoes with a sprinkle of finely chopped dill would do.

A lot of these sound interesting, but I find myself leaning towards pie.

Always interesting to see a poll about political bias that is created by someone from the US and obviously intended to be answered by people in the US.
The US political landscape is extremely narrow, so the choices only describe a fraction of the political views in the world. You basicly have two parties in the US, which in most (but not all) aspects represent a moderate or conservative standpoint. I live in a country where we have six parties represented in our parliament, covering a political spectrum you probably never will fathom. Most of our parties are all further apart from each other than your two parties are. Furthermore, the political nomenclature is different in the US. "Liberal" has a very different meaning in the US than in the rest of the world. Therefore, the poll is a bit weird for us outside the US, but nevertheless interesting to see. |
